I'm sorry to be a dissenting voice here, but I don't like this book. It has a dated, 1980's feel to it and I'm struggling to find something I want to make. The recipes are old fashioned and uninspiring, and are written for 4 (-6) portions, but it's it hard to scale down a recipe which requires three tins of beans! I doubt I'll ever use it. Sorry!

4.0 out of 5 stars Beware if you are a UK crocheter., 23 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Crochet Step by Step (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book for beginners, although experienced crocheters will still find it a valuable resource, with some useful patterns, tips and hints. However, beware if you are a UK crocheter as this book uses American terminology. For example, a UK double crochet is a US single crochet. Some of the patterns, especially the motifs and edgings, have diagrams, so no problem if you can follow these, but some patterns are written so you need to be aware of the US terminology here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Book, 10 Oct. 2011
This is an amazing book. I am a relative beginner to goldwork and this book provides all the information I've been searching for. It explains all the different types of threads and techniques used in goldwork, so is an excellent reference tool. If you only buy one goldwork book, make it this one.
