2.0 out of 5 stars Sorry - this one was over the edge for me, 8 Sep 2013

This review is from: Edge: Ten Grand (Kindle Edition)
The usual digital errors with words making some sentences nonsensical with a very thin plot and the usual (and seemingly never-ending) sudden magical turn of speed from the (anti)hero was enough for me. I struggled to finish the book and have now called a halt.

If you are immersed in westerns you may enjoy this attempt to recreate Clint Eastwood's spaghetti western screen character on the page, but it's not for me

Plot keeps you interested although the main character is repeatedly pulling rabbits out of th hat to save himself at the last moment.

This one also suffers from a poor digital transfer with lots of errors

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the most rivetting of plots, 8 Sep 2013

Not only was the plot a bit thin, but the main character is not believable.

Add to that the fact the digital transfer has so many mistakes in it that you have to work out some words or even sentances for yourself it's as much irritation as it is pleasure

4.0 out of 5 stars A laugh a minute, 18 Mar 2013

A humorous but informative account of a GP's life from an author with a natural ability to see the funny side. It made me laugh out loud now and again and I found it hard to put the book down, even though his explanations as to how the National Health Service really operates could easily keep you awake at night. It's not written like a James Herriot but with people instead of animals - it's much harder hitting than that, but it is hugely entertaining as well as lifting the lid on what a mess the politicians have made of the good old NHS.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book Not As Good?, 18 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Band Of Brothers (Kindle Edition)
Bought the book for two reasons - firstly I loved the series Band of Brothers and secondly Stephen Ambrose's Pegasus Bridge book is a fantastic read. Unfortunately this book was neither as good as the tv series nor as good as the Pegasus Bridge novel. It seemed very shallow in places and gave the impression of jumping a little as a result. I was also left with the impression that the 101st never made a mistake......

Not a book that kept me turning the pages.

The characters are well drawn and involving and keep you reading. However I found the plot not only a little slow but also failing to reach any kind of conclusion. An interesting read (as are most of this Author's books) but left me feeling he had run out of enthusiasm for it so just brought it to an end. No doubt this wasn't what he did, it just felt like it to me.
