The World of the Nice Troglodytes, 2 Nov 2009
All the politics, jokes, petty rivalries, and camaraderie of working men, only this time it's in the synchronised dingy monotone world of the Budapest metro. A bit of excitement thrown in too with the hooded spirit who wanders the platforms waiting for prey to push in front of trains. And then there's the beautiful bear that rescues our hero. What more could you want? Well one thing: less of the American subtitles replete with vernacular and bad language. Hardly believable to hear the hero's 50 year old ex-boss saying, "That must be cool", as though he'd just stepped out of American high school. How is it that the Film Four versions of continental films are spared this curse? My advice: get it off the tele - but get it.
