Frankly, I did not use this book a lot. I used other sources to prepare for my trip. But it was nice to have this little tome to carry around in my pocket as a quick reference guide. For that, it was really perfect.

This is not the nicest shirt I own - far from it. But as an easy to dry, more or less wrinkle free travel shirt that breathes, it does the trick.

Not sure what to say to review this product. It is a hand santizer. From what I could tell, it sanitized my hands. One nice thing is that it is 60ml, so you can take it on a plane with you. Did I mention that it will sanitize your hands?

5.0 out of 5 stars Dubious at first but grew to love it!, 29 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This pack had great reviews, which led me to buy it. When I got it, my first reaction was that it was a bit small. My second reaction was that it was a bit dull (not many pockets or separate compartments). As I packed and especially as I travelled with it, I grew to love it. First, it is small, but it has an excellent structure which enables a lot to be packed into it without compromising its portability. And in terms of not having more than a couple of pockets, this only means that it is easier to find everything. What most impressed me (as many other reviewers have noted) is the build quality. It just FEELS well put together. I could stuff things roughly into the pack, pull hard on the straps, toss the pack around, etc. without worrying about hurting it. And it was very comfortable to carry. Highly recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars Stretches the limits of credibility, but I guess that's the point, 11 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am interested in why normally good and rational people can act in horrible, often irrational ways due to their desire to comply with an authority figure and/or group or peer pressure. This movie deals with the former and to some extent the latter and does so competently.

I would anticipate that many who watch this film will wonder how someone impersonating a police officer could pursuade so many people (including the victim herself) to follow his every instruction, however outrageous, invasive and obviously ridiculous it might seem. Personally, I frequently found myself often shaking my head in disbelief that people of even limited intelligence would allow themselves to be duped so badly, to the point of taking away another person's liberty and dignity (amongst other things).

But clearly the fact that it is all so unbelievable is the point of the movie. If in fact things like this have happened in real life, as the director claims in the extras accompanying the Blu-ray version and as news reports suggest, the fact that these things are so utterly unbelievable only goes to show what we as people are capable of. I am not sure how much of what the movie shows happened in the actual cases on which it is based and how much of it was embellished or made up for dramatic effect. However, I suppose if many of us will administer what we believe are lethal doses of electricity to test subjects because someone posing as a scientist tells us to, we will do pretty much anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the Saints championship season books, by far., 30 Sep 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: From Bags to Riches (Hardcover)
As a die-hard Saints fan, I have read the three main books on the championship season and the Saints role in New Orleans' post-Katrina recovery. Although I am a huge Drew Brees fan, I found his book a bit preachy for my tastes (a lot of "if you put your faith in God, good things will happen"). Some people might enjoy this (it's certainly the most uplifing and spiritual of the three), but I found it a bit boring. I much prefered Sean Payton's book, which was surprisingly well-written ... considering how incoherent his press conferences tend to be!

But Jeff Duncan's book is by far the best of the three. It is that very rare sports book: one that is actually really well-written, well-edited (none of the typos that plagued the other two books) and most of all really well-researched. I did not think I could learn anything I did not already know about Hurricane Katrina, the Saints or the city of New Orleans, especially after reading the Payton and Brees books, but I found Duncan's book to be extremely informative and a very interesting read.

Of course, I read it just because I am a Saints fan and I can't get enough of reading about the 2009-10 season. I'd probably buy a children's book on the Saints championship season if there were one. Having said this, Duncan's book stands on its own as one worth reading even if you are a not a Saints fan or even a football fan. It is simply a well-written, interesting read for anyone who likes compelling non-fiction.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pompous, Hollywood fare, 11 April 2006
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Crash [2005] [DVD] (DVD)
Not to give anything away but the movie gets its name from a line spoken by Don Cheadle that goes something like this: "LA is such an uncaring place that people intentionally crash into one another just so they can feel something." What a cheesy line. Unfortunately, watching Crash was like being bombarded with one obvious message after another and yet still feeling nothing. All the credit Hollywood got for considering Brokeback Mountain for best picture was lost when it decided to give the award to this clearly inferior film. It is not that Crash is a worthless film. It is a relatively painless way to spend a couple of hours and the actors are all highly watchable. But it is entirely uninteresting and blatent and never rises above eye candy.
