This really should have been titled "The Dysfunctional Family". A manic motor, (Jean) and daughter live in the sort of family where nobody speaks to one another, had they done so, or just played the CD the whole weak plot would have been exposed. The authors style tries to create drama and tension by allowing the characters repeatedly to change direction mid sentence, so frustrating for the reader. I tried to enjoy the book which had pace but alas the families chaotic life style replaced opportunity for what I thought was a political drama.

American authors (not all) pad a good story out with inane ramblings about non relevant events. Am I the reader the slightest bit interested in page after page of what the characters were wearing, and in this book how cold the weather and storms were. Sorry not my cup of tea at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Words that fill a page, 25 Jan 2014

Not very impressed, the story (?) darts about, the escape by car from Paris reads like a tour guide, and words flow to fill pages. I like my suspense story,s with more drama and pace.

If only recent bankers had displayed the integrity of Hugh Pillister. A thoroughly entertaining read, well researched in true Follett fashion and well recomended

This is guide which outlines the features of your kindle (which you probably knew, that's why you bought it) but doesn't explain in any detail how to avail the features. I guess for 77p you should not expect to much but personally I would happily pay more and get something really useful.

This is a well made map of the world but not great value for money. The "qoutes around the edge of the map I cant see the point of; that area could have been used to produce a larger (more detailed) map within the same frame area. The pins provided protrude through the rear of the map but in fairness the depth of the frame keeps them off scratching the wall behind. The colours are a little bit garish but the longer its up the less intrusive they become, so in time I will get used to that. Its a very nice frame and the whole thing is put together well but just a few changes would have gained this product 5*

One or two previous reviews worried me but two months after purchase I am really pleased with this carpet protector. Comments about cracking etc have not been evident and it gets regular and heavy daily use in my home office. Happy to reccomend

I just need a sat nav to get from A to B. This thing is full of so many features that some software whiz kid created, that the basic priciples of straight forward clear navigation seem secondary. As an example approaching a traffic island (multi lane) its only after you enter the island that the spoken instruction to exit at No 2,3,4,or 5 are given. Not good if you are in the nearside lane and need to exit at No 5. Speed limit meassages hide part of the maps and the audiable warning when travelling through a variable speed restriction area is a real pain.Motorway graphics at major junctions are a complete farce, who driving at 70 mph should be looking at a 5" screen. The audio voice over is dire, Serena who is the only version that gives street names, is I assume computer generated either that or she has something in her mouth when she talks, dreadful. However you can select Wallace & Gromitt or the Flinstones. Who the hell is driving cars these days anyway? Too gimmicky by far, not very impressed.

After several positive reviews I decided to try the Active 3000. Not expecting instant results it is now some three months since I fitted it and just wish I could share the enthusasm of others for the product but sadly have to report that I can see, taste nor smell any difference in our water whatsoever. Shame but there it is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Definately no screen star, 11 Aug 2012
In desperate need of a replacement screen I purchased the AOC E950SWDA locally. How disapointing compared to my old HP screen. The definition seems poor and colours washed out. Adjustments can be made but what a performance not helped by the absence of any printed guide (print your own from the cd as the manufacturer cant be bothered). Truoble is when you have fathomed out what adjustments to make the controls are hidden at the foot of the screen and I do mean hidden. The name of each control is engraved into the screen case and really ought to be picked out in colour as its almost impossible to determine one control from another and after hitting the wrong button several times becomes really frustrating. The screen is mains powered, so no need for a DC transformer, I dont know if thats a good thing or a bad one but I feel happier with low voltage eqpt. The whole image of the screen which by its nature sits in a prominent posistion on my desk is cheap and nasty. Definetly not a screen star, just hope it performs better than it looks.
