Again another great story about earlier Roman times which has been well researched. Thoroughly recommend and eagerly await the next episode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading, 11 May 2015

A great story which appears well researched and definitely worth reading. Unfortunately my usual niggles about grammar. We still get the sat for sitting and stood for standing. This is OK for the spoken word but unacceptable for the written word. Another small point is the unit of length. The Romans used the equivalent of feet and inches. Metric units like meters etc came into use after the French Revolution. Anyway I still recommend it and look forward to the next episode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Early days of the Roman Empire, 5 May 2015

Interesting story about the military development of the Roman army. Well researched and fast paced with helpful explanations. To my grammatical purist thinking there are some irritating phrases such as stood for standing and sat for sitting. However despite that I will continue to read the series.

This was another excellent story about Corvus which interestingly enough did not feature him as much as usual. As there has been an understandable delay from the last adventure it took me a chapter or two to get back up to speed with the various characters. A list of them at the start would be helpful. However it is well worth the effort as you are kept gripped throughout. A difficult book to put down. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roman intrigue, 8 April 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First in a series about a new Roman hero. Was initially put off because it was likened to Mario's Mules which I found to be written in a confusing manner. However I'm glad I decided to download it as this is a great story which is difficult to put down. Thoroughly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Further adventures of Vespasian, 17 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The absorbing story of Vespasian continues although this time with a lot of politics. You need to pay a lot of attention to follow it through but it's worth it. Lots of the usual fighting as well. A must read if you have been following his career.

4.0 out of 5 stars Action Packed, 18 Feb. 2015

Good fast paced story which keeps you enthralled to the end. Only drawback was a pro-Isralie ramble in the middle which is of debatable accuracy. However that aside I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it as a good read.
