1.0 out of 5 stars TOTALLY RUINED BY SHAMEFUL GREED OF BOX SET PRODUCERS, 3 Mar. 2015
My enjoyment was Completely ruined as I did not understand how the ending of episode 8 of series 5 related to the opening episode. Googling the answer, I found that episode 8 was NOT the final episode as the viewer must purchase ANOTHER season 5. In my case though, there is no point in doing so as I have now read the ending of the real final episode. The producers of the box set should be ASHAMED!!!!!!!!!

Dull, repetitive, slow, transparent and ultimately predictable. Did not capture the mood of the era and I found it difficult to relate the characters to the seventies when they seemed to represent a period a century earlier.

3.0 out of 5 stars not one her best, 20 Mar. 2014

Credibility is stretched tighter than Ann Widdecombe,s knicker elastic. The unlikely exchange visits with the FBI, Travis solving an American cold case and falling in love in the space of 36 hours, multiple incest and an unwarranted promotion on the back of a dictaphone recording. The Langton / Travis relationship has lost its intrigue and neither are interesting enough on their own. Time to call it a day Lynda before Travis mutates into Jane Tennyson.

Always complex, often confusing but utterly compelling. My only concern is that Nesbo has a habit of mashing chronology but I will go back in time for Cockroaches. I would love too see this book on celluloid

Thorne is a flawed hero and there is no law in his world that a book needs s happy ending. This is a stunning story, both simple and complex with underlying waves of characterisation that will leave you gagging for the next instalment.

Quirky and innovative. A combined thesis in psychology and sociology wrapped up in a diary. Not without its flaws as I can't accept that Amy would not have tracked down the Ozark couple. I will certainly read her again though.

2.0 out of 5 stars Was this for real?, 12 Aug. 2013
This review is from: Sweet Tooth (Kindle Edition)
Given the nature of this novel I found myself wondering whether the author actually set out to write this pedestrian drivel simply to prove that an audience can be deceived into thinking that such rubbish is high quality simply on the back of the writer's reputation. I finally concluded that it was just unintended, pretentious drivel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Flawed, but compelling., 5 May 2013

Whilst lacking the professionalism and prose of a more accomplished writer he kept me sufficiently engaged to ensure that I read this book in less than five hours. The writing was somewhat functional but the sense of tension, frustration and impending peril was skilfully crafted. The story unravelled fairly predictably and so quickly that I suspected that the author was working towards an enforced deadline, or simply got bored. Shame, there were lots of possibilities in that final few chapters.

One of the most thought provoking and challenging books I have ever read. Deeply sad and hugely uplifting. Pure genius.
