I found this machine very disappointing. It takes a long time to heat up and the cooking does not benefit as a result. The machine cooks with very distinct hot spots, certain parts of the waffle are golden, others are clearly burnt and some is still raw.

I have tried multiple waffle mixes, including various store brands, recipes forms chef steps, all recipes, food wishes, serious eats and ultimately my own bespoke heated waffle recipe. The result is the same, anaemic waffles that are unevenly cooked.

It's possible I have a defective unit, but Cuisinart customer service have not responded to multiple requests for help. Which did not contribute positively to my feeling towards this machine.

Buy another machine this one is all brand over substance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Utterly awesome!, 26 April 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I love this device. It heats up fast, it's crazy discrete, easy to clean, packs away nicely.

The only negative (and it's a mild complaint) is it really needs a simmer setting, even on it's lowest setting the hob is mildly too hot and I can't get anything other than a slow boil.

It's very easy to use, robust, reliable and awesome; Buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars A worthy read, 4 Jan. 2016

Cool book, lots of recipes but would have liked a lot more detail / information on the wood / fire element of cooking with this style of oven.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool book., 30 Dec. 2015
Pretty cool book. Lots of recipes but I was hoping for more detail on the "fire" side of things. To Mallman, fire is second nature, I felt this book lacked information in this regard and thats what I was hoping for.

Definitely worth a read though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very cool, needs careful installation though, 18 Nov. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very cool product. Easy to setup and the alerting is phenomenal. The only negative is the back-plate is crazy fragile, meaning you can easily drive the screw heads through the plate leaving you with a massive paper-weight. Nest provide spares but you have to wait an age to receive them.

Whilst this mistake is user error, I would expect a £89 smoke alarm to be made of more sturdy stuff.

Of the 3 I bought, 2 are installed and communicating with each other. So they work, well. I recommend them, just don't be ham-fisted when screwing the plate into the ceiling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid and very capable, though not the finished article., 7 July 2015
Pro's:

Very capable system. Robust, well made and reliable.

Con's:

The probes are enormous, if you're smoking turkey or a ham you need a long probe, but if you just want to get the temperature inside your grill they're too large.

It will eat batteries, mine's been run for roughly 30 hours and it's on it's 4th set of AAs.

Instructions for initial setup are confusing and the user interface is not intuitive or clear, be prepared to have to spend some time reading the guide's to get setup correctly (it's worth it).

Future Improvements:

I would like it if the unit had an inbuilt timer, rather than needing to run a separate timer.
The receiver NEEDS a contrast control for the screen, the current display is too easily obfuscated with glare.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book should be quarantined., 20 Nov. 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I genuinely hated this book. It's well written and presented in the classic Dummies way but boy was a glad to put this thing down.

I know now that projects should have a scope of work which should outline a projects goals, provide an overview of what resources and timings are needed and absolutely no-one will ever read a word you put down.

I learned more about project management using Basecamp, but if you're going for a job with Clancy Docwra, it might be handy to read this prior to the interview, other than that it's a shame the paper used in this bad boy isn't still a standing tree.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lawks a lordy my bottom's on fire, 20 Nov. 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I made this purchase solely because the previous print that I held had been updated. On balance, this was a wise decision this time, as the layout had undergone a change - an improvement, and the entries for activities, tours, and sleeping etc reflected the latest position. The only downside, albeit minor when you got used to it, was that a section of 32 pages had been bound out of order in the book. I couldn't be bothered to complain as I was shortly due to leave the country with the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Man talks to tree, phew what loony, 20 Nov. 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It was good, it had really good suggestions for walks and hikes but it was very "backpacker friendly". i.e. if you want something a little more refined you'll need to look elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong, it is supremely detailed and full of helpful stuff (like buying tickets and "what to do in this neighbourhood"). But it's a bit like learning the English language by reading a dictionary but you'd be better off reading Wodehouse.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a toothbrush, that's electric, 20 Nov. 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It's well-made, well-designed, well thought-out.

The easy start mode is great, and saves you having all the brushes torque power into your mouth. The integrated sanitiser, which cleans the toothbrush heads using UV is really cool, though slightly gimmicky.

What more is there to say, it's a quality product.
