5.0 out of 5 stars Forgotten Way, 22 April 2008
Half way through and thoroughly enjoying the book and results.

I remember watching a nature program about big cats hunting mountain goats in some far outreach of Northern Asia. In one shot they showed a mountain goat resting on an outledge surveying the valley. In it's state it made me think we humans have lost something about being in touch with nature and what it is to be human. The power to be, not being distracted by the seemingly never ending stream of attempted assaults on our awareness that come at us throughout the day. Adverts, TV, radio, peer pressure, addiction - noticing rather than reacting to!

This book shows you the way to a more natural state of being imho. One of being calm and aware and leaves you with a feeling of general clarity!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very fast drive., 27 Jan 2008
This drive is very fast and works best as a disk to store all your programs on. Boot up from this disk is fast and operationally blisteringly good.
Have another larger drive to store all your files on and you've got the best set up imho.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jaw dropping stuff, 19 Dec 2007
Outlandishly fascinating investigation of how this little planet we live on is what it is today.
Some slightly speculative guesstimation on certain events but undoubtedly the best explanation for the way of the world and how it developed human has produced to date. Not sure about the earth twin theory and strangely offered no reason for putting it forward.
The water episode is the weakest but only because the other 4 are just so awe inspiring.
The format of ending on a dour note was a little tiresome but our western culture seems to like a bit of drama and frankly there's no bigger drama playing out than the one we're living out now. I wish I could live long enough to see how we fair.
If you want the story of the earth explained to you in a manner that'll leave you gob smacked then get this!

3.0 out of 5 stars A selective compendium of self help book wisdom., 14 Jun 2007
This review is from: The Secret (Audio CD)
Ordered this because a friend said it was really good, we share a sense of personal development.

By and large if you're new to self help books and wisdom on how to live life then this would probably suffice. Read it, act accordingly and get with making your life and the world a better place. If you've read a lot of personal dev. books then you'll be hard pressed to extract anything new from this. Saying that it does compend a lot of the basic gems of wisdom on the best way to live your life. The marketing and packaging blurb of the whole product is bull and clearly designed to sell sell sell which makes me question if you make your living from selling The Secret does that count, isn't it cheating? It's not a hard market to make it in is it?

Two points on some of it's content. Firstly, it was refreshing to hear again how one shouldn't be troubled over the odd negative thoughts that arise in your mind, something which troubled me much in my days of allegiance with the great dictator in the sky who keeps a record of every thought apparently. Secondly, the man who decided to give The Secret a chance, was earning 8,000pa and set himself the target of earning 100,000pa despite having no idea whatsoever of how to achieve that. Excuse me but when you already have a book written it's not an epiphany moment when you realise if you sell it you'll make your target. And, to write a book requires certain abilities he claimed he didn't have. How can you write a book without having vision, ability to plan, personal motivation etc etc. For me the inclusion of his 'story' ruined the credibility of the book and understandably gave rise to criticism of the book.

I found the closing comments egomaniacle - this world and universe and everything in it WAS NOT created for us, we are undeniably a part of it but created for us is madness. We have clearly raped and pillaged this world and the last thing we need is another army of people thinking they can do whatever they want in pursuit of the million dollar pay cheque. Love, gratitude, peace and positive vibrations yes, greed and selfish pursuits - NO THANKS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank Genes for Dawkins, 7 Jun 2007
This review is from: The God Delusion (Paperback)
The end of religion is nigh thanks to this book from Dawkins. Dawkins is a bit of an academic but he does ok at getting his point across to the likes of me the uneducated. A bit heavy going at times but worth ploughing on to receive the pearls of insight to the crassness of the religious view. BUY THIS BOOK it will change your life and rid your mind of some very outdated beliefs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suddenly everything looks clearer., 26 Feb 2007
This review is from: The God Delusion (Hardcover)
I finished this book a few weeks ago and it has quite frankly been a revelation. I read the bible previously and the two are incomparable. Dawkins puts across an extremely convincing reality and one which crystalizes our place in this universe. If you have any thoughts about god then this book is a must read. I think this book is the death knell for religion, the times they are a changing.

The book is a bit heavy at times but stick with it, in fact don't worry about not understanding it, keep reading until it moves onto something you do understand and kerching another penny will drop.

This book is more important than all the religious books out there put together and multiplied by 10. If you need religion to be good you really need help.

3.0 out of 5 stars Started strong but is on it's way back to the shop., 12 Jun 2006
I bought this with the snb6500 base station.
I wanted a plug in and go wireless internet service at home. It all installed fine and I was up and away, however after trying to do some security features it is now hardly connecting, if it does connect it can go slower than dial up.
So all sense of reliability has gone and the two units are going back. A product on the market has to be simple to set up and keep going. This one lost me on the security side which could have been the reason for it messing up but then it should have been sold with a warning that it may not be that simple to install!
