Organizational Consulting: A Gestalt Approach (Gestalt Institute of Cleveland)
Organizational Consulting: A Gestalt Approach (Gestalt Institute of Cleveland)
by Edwin C. Nevis
Edition: Paperback
Price: £30.99

4.0 out of 5 stars A great summary of gestalt consulting, 29 April 2013

Got interested in this because a number of influential figures in the world of Organisational Development point to Gestalt as an invaluable frame through which to consider OD. Nevis has been applying this approach for years so the book represents a life's work. Gestalt can occasionally come off as a bit esoteric but Nevis is down to earth and offers clear explanations of the theory as a whole and how it can be applied. Whether you're an OD practitioner or a consultant with an interest in new ways to think about your work this is an extremely useful addition to your library

4.0 out of 5 stars Accessible, practical and evidence based, 17 Dec. 2012

The C&Q approach to culture makes sense to clients while drawing on a solid evidence base. It simplifies usefully while reminaing rooted in the full complexity of the topic. The questionairre and management skills profiling tool provide practical ways to understand how teams and organisations have created their culture and the trade-offs that would be required to change it. The behaviourist approach that this book embodies runs counter to, say, Schein's approach to having groups self-diagnose with a specific purpose to their inquiry in mind but I've now used this in both a corporate and a healthcare setting and it performed a real service in helping groups to surface and address cutltural issues that had only previously generated conflict.

Strategy Maps: Converting Intangible Assets into Tangible Outcomes
Strategy Maps: Converting Intangible Assets into Tangible Outcomes
by Robert S. Kaplan
Edition: Hardcover

4.0 out of 5 stars The bumblebee of business books, 24 July 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Breaks absolutely every single rule in the "good business book" guide. Doorstop sized (which usually indicates lots of padding to justify the price) and untroubled by doubt about its applicability in any and all situations (normally a good indicator that you're handling something designed for a perfect world scenario) this is in fact a practical manual full of great examples of a simple but effective tool (balanced score-carding) being applied to the problem of testing strategy to breaking point and then making sure the final outcomes have a decent chance of happening. Public sector, private sector and everything between. All killer. No filler.

This review is from: Despicable Me (Audio CD)
Bought the Despicable Me DVD for my kids and was struck by how good a job Pharrell Williams had done on the soundtrack. having bought the CD it has lived up to expectations and there is no site more enjoyable than watching the kids dancing 'round the kitchen to it in the morning. If you're a fan of William's sound, particularly Frontin' this should hit the spot for you with the added bonus of a "you should be dancing" by the Bee Gees

4.0 out of 5 stars All good, 22 Jun. 2011

There has been a growing volume of bossa nova compilations in recent years and they are of variable quality but this one has some rare gems from the earliest days of Bossa Nova up to more recent years. While not quite up to the standard of the mighty Tropicalia compilation this is still an essential for anyone who loves early Bossa Nova

4.0 out of 5 stars Hammy but great, 22 Jun. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought it for my kids after hearing Mark Kermode and Simon may rave about it. Very good indeed and very popular with both my 9 year old and my 5 years old. Reminiscent of the old Errol Flynn swashbucklers, age appropriate and something i'm quite happy to sit and watch with them. There aren't many movies in than category.

This review is from: Tracks (Audio CD)
Saw this lot on the Old Grey Whistle Test DVD and was intrigued enough to buy the CD. It's astonishing that they're not more widely known as the songs are great and the band themselves have that wonderful combination of loose, funky sponanaity that you only get when all of them can play like demons and the rhythm section is as tight as a gnat's chuff. Like and English Little Feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars bakelite but brilliant, 26 May 2010

They look like they were designed to augment a 1940's bakelite radiogram but the sound is brilliant and the fit is comfortable. Having grown sick of tinny sounding, flimsy offerings from Sony and Senheisser they were well worth the extra money

3.0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag, 25 July 2008

The quality of the songs and the talent of the contributors gave me high hopes for this CD. In most cases though they struggle to top the originals. That said, Aaron Neville's bonkers but brilliant gospel version of the Mickey Mouse March makes the entire purchase worthwhile.
