Excellent device : CHECK TO SEE IF MADE IN TAIWAN, 7 April 2012
I am thoroughly impressed by HTC. Unlike other reviewers, I have had no problems with this phone thus far.
This phone is excellent, here is a short list of points:
-It is blisteringly fast with its quad-core processor, and its graphics are also top notch.
-Android 4.0 ICS with HTC Sense work very well together and it is a pleasure to use.
-The camera is terrific, 8MP with full HD video recording which looks stunning and very crisp.
-Beats audio is good (Although this requires Beats headphones to take advantage of)
-The display is of the highest quality you can find on any android phone at this moment in time, I absolutely love it.
-The design of the phone is excellent and it feels solid and comfortable to use.
Here are a few pointers to people:
Although the battery life on this device is fine, I'd recommend anyone who bought this device or any other android device in general to search for "power saver" applications on the android marketplace. One of these has boosted my battery life by 1.7x simply by automatically turning off things such as wifi/3g whilst they are not in use.
This phone uses Micro-Sim cards, which is not stated by Amazon; however if you have a normal sim card which you wanted to use, you can just contact your carrier and request the phone-number and other details to be transferred to the micro sim.
I acknowledge the fact that this review is very short, but I will be updating after a week of use. This is just a brief review for the moment.
In conclusion, I'd recommend anyone reading this to purchase this phone!
For those who want to improve their battery life:
When you need to use your mobile network, use an app called JuiceDefender.
When you only need wifi, turn on flight mode, reboot then turn wifi on. This will save a lot of battery.
Go to options and then to sound, turn silent mode on.
Go to options and then to display, turn the brightness down.
Go to options and then to sync, turn auto-sync off.
Go to options and then to the developer section, set background applications to none.
These are just a few things, expect an OTA (over the air update) some time soon (maybe even on the 10th of April) which will improve the software and subsequently the battery life. Also, web browsing interestingly takes up more battery than watching HD video or playing games; so cut down on that if you can.
EDIT : IMPORTANT, WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOUR PHONE, CHECK THE BOX TO SEE WHETHER OR NOT IT WAS MADE IN TAIWAN OR CHINA. THE TAIWANESE MODELS ARE FLAWLESS AND HAVE A LOWER PERCENTAGE OF HARDWARE PROBLEMS IN COMPARISON TO THE MODELS MADE IN CHINA.
