4.0 out of 5 stars Mr Broccoli would have been proud, 22 April 2009
If you love Bond music and let's face it, how can you not, you could do far worse than buy this CD. Original songs by the original artists. No rubbish reinterprations here. Goldfinger, From Russia with Love right the way upto Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough. A must for any Bond fan.

This review is from: Post Office: A Novel (Paperback)
Post Office is a fantastic book, the perfect antidote to the glitter and fake smiles of most American TV or Hollywood. It's a low mean dirty streetfighting kind of a book, about how life punches you in the gut and smiles its yellow, crooked smile. It's a book about the other side of life, the one we know instead of the one we're made to believe is normal. But the triumph is that it's not a bleak, depressing work. the message is life is bullshit but hell you've gotta admit it's kinda funny.

While you're at it, buy Ham On Rye, another Bukovski classic, which shows how a kid grew up to become Hank in Post Office. The wry and therefore all the more damning, humour with which he deals with his father's beatings is typical of his style and I challenge anyone to find a book on a similar theme that does it better. Read and enjoy!
