5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!, 3 Oct 2007
This book was fantastic!

As soon as this book arrived, I started reading it. I read it in two sessions and would have read it in one go if it wasn't for other things getting in the way, such as eating and sleeping.

The book pulls no punches and is pretty warts and all, but you feel as though you get to learn so much about Hattie and her character really shines through.

A defnite must if you are a Carry On/Hancock/Sykes fan, but worth it anyway even if you aren't.

A sympathetic, engrossing read with loads of photos and definetly highly recommended!

1.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!, 3 Oct 2007
Being a big fan of Grace Kelly, I pre-ordered this book and waited expectantly for its arrival.

The book itself is very elegant with a lovely typeface and, erm.....

Well, if you've never read another book on Grace, this book will be very interesting.

If you know something about her already or if you have read any of the other books written about her, this book will be a big disappointment.

We all know she felt hemmed-in in her marriage to Rainier and dreamt of going back to acting. This book talks to a couple of extra people and doesn't give any further real news.

We all know she had romances with her co-stars before her marriage. This book does give a bit of detail of one or two that I wasn't sure of/didn't know about, including after her marriage. (I won't spoil it for you here - it's the only new information in the whole book).

Instead, it seems a re-hash of all the other books, with constant quotes from Robert Lacey's excellent 'Grace' and Gwen Robyns' 'Princess Grace', among others.

For a better read, I would heartily recommend either the afore-mentioned book by Robert Lacey, or J Randy Tamborelli's 'Once Upon a Time...'

After reading all the blurb on this book before it was published, I can't help but feel let down..

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cornucopia of Carry On Clips!, 12 Dec 2006
I bought this CD over a year ago and still listen to it regularly. I have my CD player in the kitchen and listen to this collection whilst I'm doing such exciting things as... oh, ironing, cooking etc! But this collection certainly makes these tasks go quicker!

The CDs come in a case encased in a cardboard... erm... case. There is a booklet inside detailing all the films the clips come from, with a short synopsis and lots of photos and pictures of the posters. There is a good five minute-ish long clip from each film up to 1978 - each one has the theme music, incidental music and the most famous clips and sections of dialogue from each film. They are grouped into sections such as medical, holidays, etc. I particularly like putting the CD on `random' mode which mixes them up a bit, as after you've heard the CD a few times you know what's coming next, but you get that with any CD I guess!

The whole package is excellent quality and well worth the money. A must for an Carry On fan as you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Carry On Reading!, 29 Dec 2002
The best Carry On book ever written! I thought I knew a lot about the series of films from being a lifetime fan, but this guy knows the lot! A good two or three pages is devoted to every film, stage show and tv special ever made; plus "Did you know..?" and things to look out for. It has made me watch them all again but this time with fresh eyes. So for that, Thanks Robert!
