This review is from: The Planet Savers (Kindle Edition)
I have always enjoyed the Darkover series. I like stories of the strange effects the planet has on its inhabitants and how the newer arrivals have learned to survive and cope with the changes amongst themselves. The Planet Savers is a story that explores the deep psychological effects of one of those inhabitants and his battle between two states of his mind. However, he seems to be the best placed person to help save the planet from a deadly disease. Excellent exploration of a dichotomy of personality.

The story to two thirds through is brilliant. Just the final chapters seem a little far fetched in their description, although the scenario might be feasible.

Another pair of stories from the period just after the Re-Discovery event. Always an interesting read and a nice exploration of the interaction between two very different societal groups (even though they are ultimately from common heritage).

Generally good advice for all coders, no examples in my preferred language, but still a readable treatise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best All-in-One Linux Printer for Small Office use., 21 Sept. 2014

This is an excellent printer for cable free printing. Only thing with such a set-up is persuading the router not to keep changing the net address for the device (but I suppose it can be fun to hunt the printer - just not when you need that report in a hurry). Print is good quality in A3 and A4 modes. Shame it only scans A4.

Two of these went with the Gigabyte Brix PC very nicely to give me 8Gbytes of RAM installed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Need to check the form factors first., 21 Sept. 2014
To be honest I haven't powered these up yet as they were not quite what I was expecting. They may be useful for something in the future but not for the purpose I originally intended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little PC box, 21 Sept. 2014
If you need PC power in a very small space to clear your desk or floor of the usual clutter that having a tower or desk-top machine usually entails then these little beauties will certainly help to do that. I fitted 256Gbyte of Solid State SATA storage and 8Gbytes of DDR3 RAM in mine to create a machine that ran Mageia4 Linux excellently. With the above configuration they are very quiet in operation (if they have a fan I have not heard it so I suspect they are probably fanless) and even extended running for over 72 hours didn't seem to get them beyond a tepid surface temperature. Operating speed seems very adequate for my intended use. I am building mine into a fully featured 3D CAD and Electronics Design Station.
