5.0 out of 5 stars Finally available, 29 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Strangely, this gem in Keith Jarrett's long string of output has never been available on CD in its entirety. This has now been remedied, and it has been worth the wait. This is probably one of Jarrett's best solo piano recordings, so if you like the Köln concerts, you simply need this. No more words required.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless and priceless, 24 Sep 2010
I have not much to add to the other reviews. It is a pure joy to see and hear Wes Montgomery in this settings. In particular the Dutch session is priceless, as it shows Montgomery rehearse and discuss with the other musicians, which creates a very relaxed atmosphere. The other two sessions are also wonderful, and one can just watch in awe when witnessing this great musician. Picture and sound quality are as good as they can probably be, and the packaging is nice (so is Metheny's liner notes). Highly recommended!

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware: Bootleg, 20 Oct 2008
This is live footage broadcast in 1988 by a Spanish TV channel. It documents nicely Zappa's last, and extraordinary, touring band, but the quality is what you would expect from a production of a TV station's on-the-spot edited and mixed show: Somewhat cofused editing, not-too-good sound and picture quality, but worst of all: A completely illegal product.

Don't support the bootleggers in profiting on Zappa's music! Purchase legal music instead. As Amazon should be aware; everything else is theft. As the adds say: "You wouldn't steal a car?" (The idiots making money on this product even uses a picture of Zappa that predates the concert by at least a decade; phew!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Music that lasts, 5 Nov 2007
This is a superb performance. While some of the so-called jazz-fusion music of the 1970s sounds awfully outdated today, Weather Report never got hit seriously by the passing of time. On the contrary, their albums continue to grow on me.

The line-up presented on this DVD has a special place in my heart, because it was the one I saw one year later at one of my first major concerts. Then, 30 years ago, they blew me away. Now, 30 years later, I realize that their music really still stands. And the performance here is an excellent documentation of this. The interplay between carefully composed intricate patterns and free-form improvisations is stunning. The footage also captures the report between the band members admirably. The concentration and joy in everybody's eyes are a joy to witness.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware: Bootleg!, 27 July 2007
This DVD has been on the market before. It is a bootleg, i.e., an unofficial and unauthorized release of a 1974 Frank Zappa TV show. The version previously available in various stores in Europe contained clips from the DVD "Dub Room Special." As this show has now been officially released by the copyright holders of Zappa's music, these clips may have been removed from this DVD. In any case, don't buy it. You will ultimately be supporting bootleggers! Buy legal and officially released Frank Zappa products instead!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor documentary with music by cover band, 20 May 2007
This is a borderline rip-off DVD. It contains interviews with a few journalists and musicians, which guide the viewer through the Chili Peppers' career (up until, and including, "By the Way"). Not much new insight. The footage of the Chili Peppers consists of lots of very small clips from videos and performances, often with (here it comes) the soundtrack being versions of their songs as performed by a cover band. This is obviously due to copyright issues, but it make the DVD a painful watch. Especially when the commentators with great seriousness describe the deep interplay between Flea and Frusciante, while we hear some cover band play! Save your money!
