Gillette Fusion Proglide Manual 9 Razor Blades + Razor with Flexball Technology
Gillette Fusion Proglide Manual 9 Razor Blades + Razor with Flexball Technology
Price: £25.00

2.0 out of 5 stars Over-engineered and expensive in the long run, 8 Mar. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This razor reminds me of the Canyonero, the car Homer Simpson designed which packed in all the features you could possible want but was "12 yards long and two lanes wide, 65 tons of American pride" and was somehow less than the sum of its parts.

The problem is that this razor has really been over-engineered and practicalities have been lost along the way. The 5 blades and the lubestrip mean you get a really smooth shave on the flat plains of your cheeks, but the head in well over a centimetre wide meaning its nigh on impossible to get in those nooks and crannies that my Sensor Excel deals with without a second thought. You could try to vary the angle of your shave but then you hit the next design problem. Unlike the Sensor Excel which pivots on the middle of the head, the pivot for the Fusion is at the bottom, meaning that for anything but straight downward strokes you struggle to achieve any purchase.

Also the old razor - razor blade revenue model is in full play here. You get this pack which is good value, but a pack of four blades will cost you a tenner in Sainsburys, compared to 10 Sensor Excel blades for £10.50

5.0 out of 5 stars Do the job at a budget price, 6 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought three of these and they seem to work well. I'm using them with Powerlines and although speed is only 100mbps I've not had any problems with Sky or the PS4.

They do require a mains power source which isn't clear from the pictures but at this price, they are a bargain.

3.0 out of 5 stars From the picture I was expecting something more like a box file, 3 Mar. 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is surprisingly small, not much bigger than an A4 sheet itself. From the picture I was expecting something more like a box file.

Other reviewer complain about the quality, but so far it has been ok. Others say it is overpriced and they are right.

Overall, could do with being a bit bigger, a bit more robust and a bit less expensive.

Great product, works well on stubborn stains. Especially useful if you wash at lower temperatures or if you need to soak out stains.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully written book full of melancholy and pathos, 28 Feb. 2015

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A beautifully written book full of melancholy and pathos, of a past that continues to haunt.

From the crispness of a Japanese spring to an atmospheric rainy Paris, the past cannot not be left behind.

Reminds me a bit of Robert Mendelsohn, great book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good clean, 21 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A good all in one dishwasher tablet that cleans well. Yes, it's more expensive than own-brands that also do the job.

Whether you want to pay the extra is really down to personal preference. It's a dishwasher tablet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and cheerful little heater, 17 Feb. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Thisheap and cheerful little heater throws out plenty of heat despite its compact size and has 3 setting 750w, 1250w and 200w. To be honest I've only really tried the highest setting but that seemed to work fine. There is also a thermostatic dial to give you more control.

For the price this is very good, but unlike more expensive versions it does lack a fan. As a result the heat seems to go straight up, which is ok if you have low ceilings and a small room, but if your ceilings are high or you have a large space to heat, you may need something a bit bigger.

Overall great for a caravan or small bedroom, but probably not up to a big room.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I've used McAfee for several years and found it to be the most reliable and least self-imposing anti-virus product out there. In my opinion it's must better than Norton which has caused me many headaches over the years by identifying key installed drivers (such as for pre-installed internal disc drives) as threats and deleting them.

On the down side, I do seem to have recently picked up something that turns off my McAfee firewall. I can't seem to remove this but at least I get a warning.

So overall - good but not foolproof.

Europe Entrapped
Europe Entrapped
by Claus Offe
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £16.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Come again?, 23 Jan. 2015
This review is from: Europe Entrapped (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I'm stranger to academic writings but must admit that I did find the language and grammar a bit difficult. There are some very long sentences, too many clauses and subclauses, so that you can easily forget what the sentence is about when you get to the end.

The presentation too, does no favours. The paragraphs are long and there are whole pages of unbroken prose.

Which is all a shame really as Offe does pose some interesting questions. They may not be earth shatterringly original but are certainly thought provoking and combine into an interesting thesis. So, for example, it's fine to no what must be done to solve our woes, but who will do it? What will be their motivation? Capitalist free-marketeers may rankle against what they see as government interference, but what if we had a true free market and those gate communities were beseiged by the mob?

In my opinion, the content is good, perhaps very good, but is let down by the way the points are being across. A more snappy tone, short and to the point sentences shorn of some of the overly-academic language, in short punchy paragraphs would make this book considerably more accessible. However, maybe accessibility was never the aim?

In this format it's probably only suitable for students, and even then at a postgraduate level. Shame really, as could provoke some debate if the ideas could reach a wider audience.
