Fishbowl
Fishbowl
by Bradley Somer
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £11.69

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 seconds, many lives, 24 Jun. 2015
This review is from: Fishbowl (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It takes Ian the Goldfish 4 seconds to crash to earth from his 27th floor apartment, but that 4 seconds is enough to reveal the lives and loves, fears and hopes, of his co-tenants.

It's an interesting concept, and a useful device to explore the living together but being alone dichotomy of modern urban living, allowing Somer to tie together disparate stories in a way that reminds of the Love Actually film.

If I had a criticism, it was the beginning. I did find the first few pages a bit hard going, but once I had synched myself to the style of the author I found the book very enjoyable. And the good thing for Ian was that as the fall only took 4 seconds he was able to remember it all even with his 8 second goldfish memory!

A good functional side plate.

I appreciate that it says in the product description that it was "Commissioned by British Airways", but I didn't realise it would a BA stamp on the bottom.

Now all my friends think I nick crockery from airlines!

3.0 out of 5 stars Temporary review - very good customer service, 19 Jun. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I received this from Amazon a couple of weeks ago but for various reasons I've not had a chance to unpack it until today. I've had an issue with the unit so I'll need to update the review when this is resolved. However, at least I can give you first impressions of how the product looks and the customer service.

On taking this product out of the brown delivery box I was immediately impressed by the packaging. A solid, compact and straight forward carton, almost retro in look and feel. Opening the carton, the unit inside had been securely and neatly packed.

The first thing you see is a nice instruction booklet, always welcome in this day and age when you often just get soft coies. It covers a number of languages, with instruction running about 14 pages in each.

On to the unit. The sizing is approx. 22cm x 13cm x 11cm, and again the look is retro, straight lines and curved edges hinting an an art deco influence, in a bakerlite style plastic with a coloured leatherette band (red in my case). There is an aeriel at the back which extends about 18inches so are this in mind if looking to use as a radio in a confined space.

It was at this point hat I hit a bit of a snag, and could ge he unit to switch on. I'm not sure if it was the unit or the power cord, but not having he option of powering with standard batteries meant I couldn't eliminate either of the possibilities.

I consulted the manual and found a support number. A standard UK number, not a premium line, not a call centre on te other side of the world, but a number of someone who knew the product sitting in the UK! My call was answered quickly, it took just over a minute, and my query was dealt with efficiently and politely, and a replacement unit was o its way to me.

So although I can't yet vouch for the unit in use (I'll come back and do that), I can say that it looks good and if you do have any problems they will do their utmost to sort it out. Shame more companies aren't like this

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but not cheap, 18 Jun. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This Murad eye cream is a very rich moisturiser. You only need to use a very small amount, any more and you'll be waiting for your skin to absorb it. When it does soak in it does seem to reduce puffiness and wrinkling but the cahnge is subtle - don't expect to look 15 years young in two weeks!

Like all similar products, time is the judge and it's probably not ideal to review after only a couple of weeks. However, it is a bit pricy so you need to ask yourself is it worth the investment. If you are willing to spend the money and time, then you will get results, although they may not be significantly better than from similar, cheaper products.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice bright and easy to use, 5 Jun. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Nice bright and easy to use. Reasonably, sturdy and lightweight these file are ideal for unfussy and compact storage. Obviously not a protective as a hard file (these are just card) so bare in mind if you are filing something important.

Only downside is the price, a bit toppy perhaps?

5.0 out of 5 stars A good variety pack of energy gels, 18 May 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A good variety pack of energy gels. At 600ml a shot they aren't over concentrated and the taste is okay. You get blackcurrant, apple, lemon & lime, orange, pineapple and tropical flavours so there is plenty of variety to try out.

In terms of performance, they seem as good as others I've tried and the price is very reasonable. Definitely worth a go.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice product, 17 May 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A nice product with 24 pockets. I use mine to keep portfolios of photographs in a handy A4 format and it does a fine professional looking job.
You can put a cover in to improve your presentation and image, and to theme your collection. Also there is a sleeve for CD to carry soft copies of your work on and a business card holding sheet for those all important contacts.

Yes, the price may be a bit toppy, and you can get similar cheaper products, but these do look good. The ability to put a title down the side would have been handy, but apart from that no complaints.

4.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Operator, 13 May 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This isn't the cheapest iron but has the quality to justify the price. There are a variety of temperatures for different materials, a good sized water tank and a number of steam/spray options. Weight wise this iron is fine and the ceramic plate ensures a good glide. Overall a nice product for one of the less enjoyable tasks.

5.0 out of 5 stars it maybe a bit cliched but best be safe if you want to get your first ..., 30 April 2015
This review is from: I'm Travelling Alone (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
A promising debut from a new Nordic crime author. Yes, it maybe a bit cliched but best be safe if you want to get your first book published. Like many of the recent Scandinavian offerings the subject is dark and taboo. In this case it is child murder that makes for the unsettling subject.

As a read, the story flows well and there is substantial character development. If you like Nesbo and the rest, this is worth a go.
