An absolute classic, beats Harry Potter every day (I am a fan of Harry Potter and JK Rowling) but this was a book that I read in the late 70's, just after my Father died and as a young lad this was everything I wanted, old fashioned standards, good friendships, rallying against the bad guys. Although set in the post war period this story translates to the modern era and in the style of Harry P, sets the good guys against the bad and right will out at the end. I recently re-read this after I helped my Mother to move house and rediscovered my box of books in the attic, this in my early 40's and I have read it to my children who loved it.
If you haven't read it yet, do so. Well constructed, well paced and good old-fashioned adventure.
