5.0 out of 5 stars So good you could eat it!, 2 Mar. 2012
Yes, the whole book is beautifully set out, very agreeable layout, amazing food photos, intelligent introductions to each chapter, one recipe and accompanying photo per double page, just makes you want to get cracking and try out the recipes. Recipes are marked as suitable for Vegans in the index too. From very inventive and surprising combinations to bog-standard classics (green lentil salad anyone?), every page is a feast for the eyes and a renaissance for vegetables. So far have tried about three or four of the soups (and heaven knows that I am not much of a soup eater): from the chunky, clunky ribollita or bean broth to the amazingly sexily smooth Parsnip and Ginger, every one a winner. Also, HFW gives tips, variations, encouragement to experiment with what's in the larder, how to make your own veg stock, a whole chapter on bready things and the dough you'll need and so on.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable read and a fantastic initiative, give vegetables back their pride of place on the dinner table!

Having caught their show for the first time in France with one of my daughters, I wanted to get a copy for her for Christmas, as we were both totally blown away by it, and my daughter said that she thought all of her friends should see the show. Well, totally amazing, great sound quality and for us, the added extra of seeing different performers doing their own "Stomp" thing (the UK troupe is not the same as the one touring France/Europe), absolutely charming as each performer has their own "thing", so the same and at the same time different from the live show we saw, with a couple of extra bits that they didn't do in France. All in all, a non-stop explosion of percussion, dance and humour.

5.0 out of 5 stars An apple a day & this book ..., 1 Mar. 2010
Amazing book that presents eight different methods of healing oneself (obviously for what can be considered as benign conditions) ranging from Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine to Aromatherapy and Homeopathy. The second part of this weighty tome presents common ailments and afflictions with a description of the problem, its causes and all of the possible remedies to deal with it (sending you back to the first part where obviously you can choose to look up the remedies in the discipline(s) that interest you). You can read up on the benefits of garlic or find out how to alleviate the symptoms of chickenpox or cure dandruff, a really good companion, so much so that I have had to give my French copy to my 18-year old daughter!

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely nuts about cooking!, 1 Mar. 2010
Have had this book for years in French, got water damaged so I decided to pick up a *cheap* English copy. Great, thorough, mouth-wateringly illustrated, runs from soups and starters all the way through to desserts, cakes and drinks - very cosmopolitan drawing on international cuisine suitable for veggies : you'll find aubergine caviar, Indian sides and curries, a good old strudel recipe that's totally delicious etc. Also, fantastic 20-30 page introduction covering all aspects of diet from vitamins, minerals, fibres and proteins to correct food associations, there is also a great full page food triangle which I used to use to educate my kids about eating the right things - sweets, sugar, butter on top (eat less), veggies, fruit and wholegrain cereals at the bottom (eat more). Chefs' hats off to you!
