This book by the well known TV personality is a welcome addition in what will no doubt grow into torrent of WWI books. It is distinguished by the author's personal links via his Great Uncle which adds a personal touch to what might become mere dry history. It is illuminated throughout by his dry acerbic wit and is a great read.
This is an excellent book well written and well researched and is an excellent book. Prof Beckett is one of the most knowledgeable men on this fascinating subject and his insight illuminates the whole manuscript
This book was recommended to me by my hairdresser. I have now decided to go to another barbers. It was quite simply one of the worst books ever written with gratuitous violence and graphic descriptions of murders in lieu of a plot.
This is an interesting departure from the usual Roy Orbison CDs and introduces the listener to some different tracks whilst at the same time still sticking to the inimitable "Orbison style" A very enjoyable listen and well worth the money.
