4.0 out of 5 stars It's time for you to take up arms... do you accept the challenge?, 18 Mar. 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mount & Blade (PC CD) (DVD-ROM)
This was one of the most surprising games I have ever bought. I am a fan of the Morrowind games and of any medieval war game, be it RTS or turn based, and if you are the same this is a game for you to get no questions needed.
You can go anywhere in the world of Calradia you want. You can bring down long standing civilizations with your hordes from the mountains, challenge other lords on the fields of battle, or grow your lands to equal and better the greatest of lords.
The main map is simplistic and holds little complications or intricate features, and the real strong point for this game is the Real-Time battle simulation, where you lead your men against your foes.
There is a nice variety of troops and the difficulty level is really good as you can adjust it to your own expertise.
The only reason I cannot give it a 5 stars for a rating is because visually it is not yet graphically as advanced as some of the other games out there and it does suffer some repetition issues especially when attacking and defending castles. However the ingenuity, creativity and enjoyment more than cover for any negatives it has.
A brilliant game! I'd love to see and can not wait for this concept to next be applied to the Roman era.

5.0 out of 5 stars To kick or not to kick a chicken that is the question., 18 Mar. 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
A brilliant game and one that doesn't follow many of the guidelines that other RPGs possess. You age the longer you play, you scar as you refuse to block, and you grow horns with each innocent you decide to slay for standing in your way as you go to the shops! It's your choice.

Following a typical RPG storyline you do have choices within the game, however unlike some reviews I read before buying please note you do not have as much freedom as you may personally like. There are main quests that need to be completed regardless of whether you are good or evil, and although there are a multitude of side quests, they are finite. This means this isn't a game where you could play endlessly, but it will definitely entertain you for at least 20 hours minimum.

Overall a brilliant buy, a great concept, with interesting dialogue and multiple endings. You can't go wrong! The only real question you should be asking yourself about this game is "to kick or not to kick the chicken!"
