3.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the tin, 25 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've done extensive research before deciding to buy this unit. Reading online reviews and comparing different units I've come to conclusion that this is currently the best on the market and offers exactly what I need.
Good points:
- Setup is idiot proof. Plug in camera and turn it on. Turn on video monitor and the picture show up immediately.
- Boot up time of the monitor is fast, Maybe second or two
- Excellent coverage - From bedroom upstairs in the front of the house I was getting excellent signal in the garden at the back of the house. Impressive as its better than my own broadband wireless signal
- No interference! I was a bit worried about this unit as its running on 2.4GHz. No problems. No interference with my wifi router or my Bluetooth speakers and Bluetooth headset
- Night vision - useful. Don't expect amazing picture but it works and that is the point.
- You can remotely pan, tilt and zoom, very useful. I didn't realise I would be using this but now that I have it I would not be without it.

Bad points:
- Monitoring unit is poor quality build , it's very plasticky, I have feeling if you drop it on the floor it will shatter in 100 pieces.
- Screen actually brings down what is rather good camera. We are looking at product made my Motorola , successful phone maker. And yet here display screen is as poor as you can get. No, this is not your HD IPS screen, this is very low resolution and very bad viewing angle screen. Unless you are looking at it head on you won't see details. Really surprised by this. Its basically 20+ year old tft screen. And reason why they can do this is because competition is not doing anything better. Motorola is selling 20 year old junk technology at premium price. Exactly what they were doing in phone market until Apple entered the competitions.
- Speaker on the camera. Idea here is that you would be able to sooth your child as they will be able to hear your voice but I dare you to use it! Speaker is so poor that you sound like Freddy Krueger!!
- You can select number of build in lullabies and play them remotely. Gimmick. And with such a poor speaker I would recommend you never try it unless you want to hear screaming baby.

And yet with all this I would still recommend this unit. It's not that Motorola is amazing, it's the case that competition is soo poor so it makes Motorola look good. They are not even trying. I'm annoyed that this old junk like that TFT screen is sold at premium price.

Received cartridges on time, packaged well, nothing damaged in transport. Installed easily and recognised by printer. Printing perfect, I see no difference between original cartridges and output with these. Great product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but not so good., 30 Jan 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After reading all the positive reviews here i went and purchased it. Basically used it twice since purchase. 3rd time i went to use it little plastic lock on the leg snapped - broke off. Now i was very careful with this and i look after all my equipment but it looks like to me that plastic lock was either faulty or there are serious quality control issues in Hama tripods.. Return period has already expired and i can't return it back. I know it was affordable but surely i should be able to use it more than 3 times....
Cheap but wish i purchased something with better reputation. On the end there is no such a thing as cheap , you pay for what you get.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great tele-zoom for the price!, 19 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
First thing first - for the price you simply cannot expect L quality. I would not compare an L with this lens as there is no point in doing so.

This lens has great image quality for the price. The quality is surprisingly good from wide to about 200mm. At 250mm you can see some softening but not enough to be a problem. It produces brilliant colors and great contrast. It is not the sharpest lens but its resolution is very good and relative to its price the quality is excellent.

The build quality is not that good, but it also helps to keep it light. The front element does rotate while focusing. The zoom ring is smooth. The main body looks OK, the extending part looks like black painted toilet paper core

In good light, this performs well, with fast-ish focus. In low light this lens is not going to work for demanding scenarios of any kind.

The IS makes the lens worth the purchase as it work great in the greater focal lengths still keeping your images crisp.

Two weak points:
1. High vignetting when shooting wide open. Stop down at f/8 to eliminate the vignetting.
2. The autofocus speed is slow , especially in low light. You can miss some interesting shots because of this , i have.

If you're looking for a tele-zoom for your cropped-sensor Canon dslr look no further

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid camera but...., 26 Sep 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I'm not going to talk about specification in details as its been covered here by the others.
Build quality is decent, camera feels solid. Lens cover could be much better. Picture quality is good, very good if you stick to RAW and do some post processing.

I have this camera since June and i have been very happy with it until last week. Now camera has developed a fault with sensor (Hot pixels \ Dead pixels).
All the photos have a small red dot in the exact same spot.
Unfortunately its right in the centre so it's hard to ignore. For this price i was expecting better from Olympus. Is it too much to ask to have camera functioning more than 3 months?!

UPDATE 16th January 2012:
Ok so its been 4 months since Amazon replaced the faulty unit and i have not had any problems with replacement unit. Its in my jacket pocket all the time whenever i'm not bringing Canon 600D.
Unit works effortlessly and without any issue.
BTW, want to mention that service from Amazon was 5 stars! First i tried to contact Olympus for advice and support and that was painful! Very poor support directly from Olympus and it was taking 4-5 days to get reply on email. After 2 weeks of Olympus "support" i was nowhere near getting any answers. Contacted Amazon , explained the problem with the unit and 5 min later all was sorted , replacement unit on its way to me!!! Fantastic customer support by Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent little hard drive, 13 Oct 2009
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Hard drive arrived a few days ago. As expected solid build, nice and polished surfaced but easily scratched. Drive is fast and silent. If you are going to use it as media drive attached to likes of WDTV or others make sure you DO NOT install supplied backup/encryption software.
WD knows how to make hard drives and there is nothing wrong here. If I have to be picky I would say that USB cable is non-standard so if you lose it or get it damaged you will need to purchase a new one from WD as you can not use any other USB cables you might have.

Update 25th July 2013:
I've purchased this product back in October 2009. I have used this as my main storage for my pictures and hard drive is used every day. In all this time i have not had any issues. Now under windows 8 also works perfectly fine.

It is extremely reliable and i would be going soon back to WD to purchase another drive as I'm now running out of space.

2.0 out of 5 stars great hardware, bad support, 12 May 2009
Easy to install , very capable hardware and that is where all the good stops.
Software supplied is very limited and buggy. HD does not work, you need to find codec on the internet. ITV HD doesn't work they advise you to purchase another software as already mentioned here. Does not work with DiSEqC switch.
When contacting support on the phone you are told its your PC or your setup issue , not their software. I was thinking I would have a better luck with their support forum but that place is full of users like me begging for help and not getting any.
Bottom line excellent hardware badly let down by VERY buggy software and poor support.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay away, 9 Oct 2003
I read it and.. to put it bluntly, no offence to anyone, this is another so called "International Bestseller" trash novel. Just another mass produced "Mary/Clare/Jenny has it all BUT..." books. After all, that's what most of these "International Bestseller" are about. It would be difficult indeed to find a single quality in this work which could make it worth recommending. Boring.
