5.0 out of 5 stars Get this!, 7 May 2011
If you want something which just looks cool, buy an iPod. If you want truly awesome, outstanding sound quality, buy a Cowon X7. I bought this because my iPod was getting on my nerves (volume limiter, poor sound quality), and I don't regret it at all. The controls take a bit of getting used to, but play around with it for a couple of hours and it's fairly straightforward really!
The real selling point is the sound quality, though: it makes listening to music a real pleasure, and you'll hear things you never even knew existed in songs you've listened to loads of times before. With 120 or 160 Gb of storage, you can afford to rip MP3s at 320kb for added clarity too. And, although you get a CD with the player, you don't actually need any special software to transfer music files, you can do it via RealPlayer, Winamp or simply drag'n'drop with windows explorer.
Forget your iPods; get one of these. I can't recommend it highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars This really is as good as the reviews say!, 17 Mar. 2010
I bought this on the strength of the reviews here, and I must say I am not disappointed. I have a new DVD player and a very old (analogue) amplifier, so I needed something to improve the sound quality between the two - primarily for CDs. And this absolutely does the trick: the sound is brilliant, there is no loss, and none of the distortion which I was experiencing before. I couldn't recommend it more. The only reason I didn't buy one earlier was that I didn't know such a thing existed! It's as good as buying a new CD player or a new amp - just a lot cheaper.

3.0 out of 5 stars iPod classic 120, 15 Mar. 2009
This looks very nice - as most Apple products do - and it does lots of clever attractive things like cover flow. But as far as the sound goes, it isn't that great. You need to artificially increase the volume for all tracks once they are transferred onto the iPod because otherwise you just can't hear them properly if you are outside. I used to have a 20gb Sony walkman, which had brilliant sound; sadly, the software with it wasn't up to much and also, sadly, Sony no longer make such large capacity mp3 players, as it was streets ahead of this for sound quality.
Buy this product if you want a flash looking iPod, but don't buy it if you want quality music listening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - buy one!, 6 May 2006
This is very good; straightforward to set up and really couldn't be easier to use. Silent, simple and does the job. I highly recommend it.
