5.0 out of 5 stars happy with my upgrade!, 10 Sept. 2013
I decided after using my kitchenaid classic for five years it was time to upgrade although I was happy with the classic it wasn't ideal for making sourdough bread which I make regularly as it was putting pressure on the motor also the bowl size isn't big enough for large loaves. This machine has a much better motor and can handle heavy going doughs and is great for cakes etc. the one criticism is the new style power kneading spiral, it doesn't always clear the bowl meaning sometimes I have to stop the machine and scrape the sides which is a bit annoying, apart from this the machine is good and should, in theory last me for years to come (hope so at this price!)looks beautiful too! if you found my review helpful please click yes below

3.0 out of 5 stars slightly disappointed really..., 10 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ordered this book months ago on pre order as a enjoy Tom's appearances on tv and and always drool over the food he produces so when I saw he was about to release his cookbook and it was called proper pub grub I was delighted as it would be filled with new twists on classics and also future classics with tips from a 2 Michelin star chef, BUT although the photograpy is good and Toms introductions are written in a friendly style there are remarkably few things I want to cook from either as the ingredients are tricky to get or they sound a bit too complicated or they just don't sound nice eg Jacobs ladder and bone marrow bread pudding, pigs trotters and bacon on toast, eggy bread with chocolate and orange sauce ( a breakfast dish? really?...)it maybe I'm not as adventurous as I think I am or maybe I don't fancy going to a pub and eating flaked skate, dandelion leaves, charred lemon and anchovies. If you are the sort of person who will make this kind of food at home then hats off to you and I'm sure you will absolutely love this book but its just not for me I prefer gastro pub classics by trish hilferty or the eagle cookbook.if you found this review helpful then please click yes at the bottom

5.0 out of 5 stars better than my lavazza espresso machine!!, 10 Sept. 2013
this stovetop is an absolute bargain, the coffee it makes is much nicer than the lavazza espresso machine I had which cost over a hundred pounds more also doesn't force me to buy expensive capsules. Although these are not "proper" espresso machines they do make nice espresso style drinks with a small crema, I think really if you like espresso at home you need to either spend a either around £500 or buy something like this as "cheap" machines are pretty much always inconstant or disappointing also this machines are quick and easy to use so you are more likely to use them regularly and don't take up half your worktop! if you found this review helpful please click yes below

5.0 out of 5 stars buy it but...., 10 Sept. 2013

This review is from: River Cottage - Bread [DVD] (DVD)
I love this dvd and have owned it for a couple of years and still regularly dig it out as a refresher as its great for showing you they basics you need to know e.g shaping techniques and kneading techniques and includes some great recipes it also puts me in the mood to bake if I start getting lazy and buying from my local shop (I try to just make my own if possible) the only (incredibly) annoying thing is that whilst watching them quickly kneading etc you can't rewind to see it again (!) it takes you to a different chapter! aaagh! despite this the dvd is so helpful I would give it 5 stars and probably even buy it if they reissued it with out this annoyance! if my review was helpfull please click below

5.0 out of 5 stars expert? beginner? buy it!!!, 10 Sept. 2013

I love baking bread and have over 20 books on the subject (sad git!) but I must say this is the book by far that I use the most, if starts off with an impassioned essay on why its important to try and make your own bread then explains the hows and whys of breading baking, this is the reason I am giving this title a 5 as before I could turn out a good sourdough etc then the time after be confronted with a horrible doughy blob,if you use this book and practice you will be able to make your own bread and be amazed with how proud/smug you feel, I also recommend the accompanying dvd. if you found this review helpfull please click below

1.0 out of 5 stars not recommended......., 10 Sept. 2013
I was really excited when I purchased my new espresso machine, I thought it was a good price and was impressed when I saw the demonstration in Selfridges as the machine produced a good sized crema (the froth on the stop of the espresso) but after I bought around 5 different types of the coffee (this machine only uses expensive lavazza pods) I realised that they had a fairly stale almost synthetic taste as a result I didn't use the machine that often (also the machine would go though periods of wasting capsules without releasing coffee) the machine finally stopped working completely about a month out of warranty ! I have purchased a stove top espresso pot (bialetti brikka) which is fantastic for its price and although not an authentic espresso machine provides much nicer coffee. hope you found the review helpfull if so please click yes below

5.0 out of 5 stars soooooo much better than my last juicer!, 10 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this machine about two months ago and must say it is a very efficient machine, although I did balk at the price I must say it is worth it. My previous machine was much harder to clean and I also find that this machine extracts much more juice so will in the long run save you money on veg/fruit. To anyone who is new to juicing I would seriously recommend that they go to a juice bar for a green smoothie if they have heard about the health benefits for a few tries to decide if they will realistically use this machine because although I juice regularly I must admit to finding it pretty grim and you will not be happy with yourself if you spend all this money and it clutter up your kitchen! if you found my review helpfull please click below

4.0 out of 5 stars replacement for my workhorse!, 10 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had my previous Dualit toaster for a number of years and had apart from replacing the elements I had no problems at all I decided to upgrade as I am no longer single and have a wife and young child so I wanted the convience of a four slice toaster (this new machine has a great feature which means you can power only 2 sides when only 2 slices being done thus saving electricity and the elements on one side) also, being honest I liked the colour and it matches my empire red kitchenaid mixer... the drawback to this machine (apart from the fairly outrageous price) is the wide slots, now this is actually another reason I bought this machine as I make my own sourdough bread and love really thick slices which it toast fantastically,HOWEVER if you use ordinary thin/ medium sliced bread it can be a nightmare as the bread often just leans to one side resulting in it being toasted/burnt on one side. this is the only reason I am giving this toaster 4 out of 5. if you found my review helpfull please click below

4.0 out of 5 stars A good workhorse !, 10 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had this machine for over 5 years and during that time I had no problems with reliability at all. I feel it is important that anyone wishing to buy this machine is aware of the fact that the machine is a little bit smaller than the type usually on display in shops (the artisan type)so bear this in mind if you like to make large batches. I used this machine mainly to make bread as it creates much less mess and I haven't got popeye's arms ! although it was a lot easier the machine really does struggle with wetter doughs and finds it hard work on the motor( though as mentioned I had no problems with reliability) this is the only reason I am giving it a 4/5 so if you are looking to use it often for bread I would by a more powerful machine with a bigger bowl (I will add a review for the machine I upgraded to the kitchenaid heavy duty) if your using it for cakes however I would say go ahead its a great machine (by the way I sold mine on ebay and got my money back in full! fantastic!) if you found my review helpfull please click yes below!
