Nice art work, shame about the card quality., 1 July 2010
I was really looking forward to receiving this deck, but one I had it in my hands my strongest feeling was one of disappointment.
The art is beautiful, and there are many interesting reinterpretations of the original card meanings. But the card quality is thin and shoddy.
A friend of mine bought the cards when they first came out, and his first edition deck is much thicker card stock, and hence much more usable, but the later printings really let themselves down. The card is thin and whippy, there are nubs on the edges of the cards where they've been cut from one another, and when they first arrived they were alternately bent concave and convex along the long axis, so the cards sat in the deck with lots of air between them and didn't slide over each other smoothly when shuffled.
I would say only get these cards if you want to look at them and not use them.
