5.0 out of 5 stars We are all Expendable, 27 Sept. 2009

This review is from: Breaker Morant [1980] [DVD] (DVD)
Excellent Australian military drama highlighting once again the pointlessness and brutality of war.
This well constructed movie I understand sticks closely to the true story of what happened to these men. Right down to Breaker declaring himself a pagan when offered the last rights.
Breaker Morant was a well known poet regularily contributing to several Australian papers. His death and the manner of it created a scandal in Australia. The Australian government had played no part in allowing this trail and apparently only learnt of it after the trail and subsequent executions.
The Australian Government never let the British Government control Australian soldier court martials again.
George Witton the only 1 of the 3 not to be executed wrote a book detailing his ordeal titled "Scapegoats of the Empire".
At the outbreak of the First World War all seemed forgotten in Australia with the Australian Prime Minister declaring that Australia would defend Britain to the last man. Witton declared he would be that last man.
The movie shows these men never had a chance.

This review is from: Living With the Gift (Paperback)
Biography of a young gifted woman who has really struggled raising a young family on her own. I am always glad to read of a woman who has struggled but succeeded without I hope losing what is most important - your heart and spirit.
Interesting seeing the twists and turns of her life and the development of her gift to were she is today

5.0 out of 5 stars Personal Journey, 6 Sept. 2009

I have just finished reading this book, largely the life story of the author. Interesting story of the hardships of life which we all face in various forms. Her story showed the lack of structure her life took with neither children or a partner or a settled start in life. This life did however in the end give her the freedom to move as she wished and adopt the lifestyle she feels at peace with without considering or being hampered by others. The book could have explored the life she leads now a little more. She works with Gary Renard and I am sure this is a interesting though provoking group of people.

It is shocking how brainwashed people can be living in todays fast and well informed world. It makes the actions that this young women took all the more brave. It is truly shameful what happened to this girl. Thank goodness the American government made this shameful so called leader accountable for what he has put children/people in his grip through. It reminds me of some of the recent court cases for members of the catholic church.
No one is more vunerable than a child - and nothing as evil as organisations that take advantage of them.
This book explains well the authors thinking throughout her ordeal - i finished it in just a couple of days
