5.0 out of 5 stars Superb value for money, 2 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My MacBook Pro power supply died without warning so I needed something to replace it quickly. I required an 85W charger for a pre-2010 and this filled the requirement perfectly.

It worked immediately, charged efficiently and stayed nice and cool in the process. Also the unit is the same size as the 60W version despite its additional output. It came with a standard UK plug and it is also compatible with the original Apple extension lead.

Don't spend the best part of 60 on an Apple version, this adapter will work just as well. Excellent value for money, and received next day from the seller as promised.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mac RAM? Don't hesitate!, 14 Jan 2013

I've purchased many RAM sticks from Komputerbay, for all sorts of Macs. Every single one has been solid, reliable, quick and cool.

Excellent! Don't waste money on more expensive brands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Once again, excellence from Komputerbay, 4 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Komputerbay seem to have popped up from nowhere in recent months, and I was sceptical as their prices are very low.

But, I have purchased their RAM time and time again for installation into clients' computers. Any problems? Nope. Good quality product? Yep. Worth the money? Definitely.

I always run a RAM test application after fitting and never has there been a single problem. Speeds are just as high as any of the named brands, heat output is no higher, and I have no opinion on failure as I haven't had any fail.

Save your cash and go with Komputerbay RAM. This applies to all their RAM, not just this particular model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing else makes any sense, 26 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I've had cables at 10 a metre, I've had cables at 100 a metre, I've even had cables at 500 a metre. You know what? Save your money. Nothing else at any price comes close to this Van Damme cable. Whether you choose 2.5mm, 4mm or 6mm, it's all excellent through and through.

The BBC use this for all their speaker hook ups, and when you use it you'll understand why. Absurdly good quality, no flannel, no guff, just a decent product at an alarmingly sensible price.

Don't hesitate, just get the amount you need and hook it up and sit back with a huge smug grin on your face. :0)

Logitech Wireless TrackMan Wheel Mouse
Logitech Wireless TrackMan Wheel Mouse

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely perfect!, 6 Dec 2007
I have used trackballs for many years at work, namely the Microsoft Trackball which is a wonderful item, but frankly this Logitech unit destroys it in terms of quality, comfort, accuracy, ease of use, reliability, build and tactility.

Seriously, this trackball is so accurate it belies belief. The scrollwheel responds to speed of turn as well as number of 'clicks' and it appears to 'rubber band' the browser window when using a web application. The scrollwheel also doubles as an assignable third button, and the resistance from the buttons and ball is bang on. Not only that, the shape and consequent comfort is is superb and even after long periods of use it remains a pleasure to use.

Set up was absurdly easy (although I use a Mac which helps); I simply plugged the receiver into a spare USB port and five seconds later it was automatically configured and ready to go. On the Mac system preferences screen the options were there immediately and the controls are so progressive that it's easy to find the perfect tracking / scroll / double click speed.

All in all, worth every single penny and a definite must buy if one is after a trackball.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crisp, clean and well produced., 22 Oct 2007
This review is from: Overpowered (Audio CD)
I have to admit that before seeing one of the tracks performed on MTV Dance, I was not aware of Roisin Murphy, so as far as this album goes I had no idea what to expect.

After about the first ten seconds of the first track (Overpowered) I knew I'd found something very special. As an audiophile I really appreciate music where the mastering engineer has thought long and hard about how to capture the artist and achieve an excellent recording. This is a prime example of an excellent recording; Roisin's vocals are super clean and cut clear above the mix (owing of course to her superb voice as well as the recording), the soundscape flourishes with detail and the whole sound hits hard and punchy without becoming too 'loud'.

As for the tracks, if you have a passion for dance, electronica and electro ballads, this is the album for you. All the songs are focused and lyrically sensible, well written and finely produced. Roisin's amazing voice shifts up and down the scale with ease and is really 'shown off' by these tracks. To present 'listenable' dance music is very tricky as it tends to be aimed at drunk clubbers, but this album can either drive a party, make for a good listening session or happily play in the background without becoming intrusive.

I love it, it's surprised me too, so much more than I thought it would be. Now all I have to do is buy her 2005 album too.

If you are a record producer / engineer, listen to this album and copy the recording/mastering style - it's genius!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product for a giveaway price!, 19 July 2007

I was a touch sceptical about mains filtering, sure I've got the exceptional interconnects, the energy absorption hi-fi stands, the spikes, the sorbothane and granite and they all work superbly in tightening the sound. But the mains? Fairly constant and surely it can't affect the sound right?

Wrong.

I popped this in front of my system (Musical Fidelity A3.5 & Tri-Vista DAC 21, Audiolab 8000Q & 2 8000P's, Martin Logan Aeon-i electrostats and MJ Acoustics PRO100 sub all hooked up with Krystal Avenger interconnects and QED X-Tube400 speaker cable) and the result was delightful.

For the ludicrously low price this has to be worth having. Whether you are an audiophile like me or just have a decent hi-fi, for the money this is a superb purchase. The effect on the sound was an overall tightening of the image, vocals became crisper and very realistic and the detail was brought out even further than it had been.

I'm now considering spending a lot more on a mains filter if this is the result of spending 40. Superb.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome machine!, 22 May 2007
I purchased my PS3 with the sole intention to play Blu-ray movies, something that it does better than most of the current crop of Blu-ray players on the market.

What I was met with is possibly the most flexible creation ever. It's a Blu-ray player, a DVD player, a CD player, internet browser, it does music storage, photo storage and it also plays simply amazing games.

So far I've bought Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and Oblivion and they're all amazing! The latter two play so well it's hard to imagine how things could be improved.

Now the PS3s are coming down in price they're even better value and I implore you to purchase one. Whatever you want to do with it it will do it easily, competently and without breaking.

I'm very impressed indeed.

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
OK, so this is not really a new style game and there have been a vast amount of World War 2 based games lately, so why buy this one?

Well if you're into immersive, well thought out, entertaining and occasionally disturbing next generation games, you can't go far wrong with this one. The whole atmosphere throws you from pillar to post - eerie, dark and menacing one moment, frantic panic the next. The tension when one is moving through the Chimeran Lairs is enough to require a momentary pause before venturing further.

As far as enemies go, there's the usual mix from 'all over the place' hissing Leapers (big scorpion like things) to Goliath - some kind of mad killing machine with an ugly face and missiles. All in all, everything one has come to expect is here.

The environment itself is beautifully created, and whilst some of the street furniture is not quite historically accurate for 1951 (speed limits, double yellow lines, wheelie bins and plastic illuminated keep left signs), the overall feeling is certainly of it's time and in keeping with the architecture of 1950's Britain.

Walking through the game one will notice there are millions of hiding places for armed creatures to jump out from, but this all adds to the tension and excitement of the game. If you're running your PS3 through a cinema system, you'll notice that the audio directionality is perfectly matched to situations in the game - i.e. if you can hear an alien in your outside right rear channel, then that's where the little blighter is!

The array of weaponry is mind blowing, from your plain old machine gun (really the most useful) to an Auger that can shoot through solid objects! My favourite weapon is the 'Fareye', basically an awesomely accurate sniper type gun with what has to be the best sight I've ever seen.

As far as playing time goes, my first run through (I completed it last night) took about 17 hours, although I'm a real 'look in every corner and proceed carefully' type player. If you are a 'run through the whole lot of them with guns blazing' type player you may shave off an hour or so, but in actual fact this game requires cagey movement and a bit of sneaking about to be a really fulfilling challenge.

Overall I loved this game. Aside from the humourous historical mistakes the game moves fluidly, with conviction and credibly. The story has purpose and cohesiveness, and at the end of the game there is a proper conclusion with a meaningful ending.

When you do complete this game (and you will), it's worth sitting through the elongated credits to watch the final FMV clip. Interesting it is and if you pay attention to the narration throughout the game, you'll understand fully why Hale (your character) is contemplating doing what he motions to do.

5/5 - Fantastic entertainment!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful in every way., 9 May 2007
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
How these images are captured with such staggering clarity is beyond me. There's so much beauty and rarity to so much of this series that it's almost impossible to take it in. As usual, the photography is beyond reproach and David Attenborough's narration is what completes this series to perfection.

The Blu-ray medium really is mind blowing, and one gets the impression that this is what high definition is really for. The passing shots of mountains, rivers and plains show so much crystal detail you'll want to play each episode again and again. There's simply hours of painstakingly captured footage showing places that few have ever seen before and some of the most weird and wonderful creatures to inhabit the planet.

Ostentatiously called 'Planet Earth', it doesn't take long to realise why. Superb in every way, beautiful to both eye and ear, informative and educational, and something worth watching time and time again.

Furthermore, the Blu-ray version has no region coding so any copy will work on any BD Player.

5/5
