Rosewood 40 Winks Oval Choc Faux Suede Sleeper, 32-inch, Cream
Rosewood 40 Winks Oval Choc Faux Suede Sleeper, 32-inch, Cream
Price: £37.79

3.0 out of 5 stars Attractive and good value, but a bit flimsy, 14 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This bed (32 inch) is about the right size for our smallish labrador (she's 27kg) - the sides are quite squashy and when she stretches out, they just go flat, but she doesn't seem to mind. The faux suede fabric is nice, and supposed to be washable. The cushion is reversible, with brown suede on one side and thick cream fleece on the other. It doesn't fit particularly well in the bed, and tends to end up dislodged when the dog moves around - she then digs underneath it for hidden treasures - I can see this resulting in an empty cushion and fluff everywhere if she's left to work on it. The stuffing in the cushion and sides is thinner than you might think from the picture (which I think shows a smaller sized bed), and although it's comfy enough, you might want something with more support for an older or arthritic dog.
It's not perfect, but a good value and attractive bed - the dog likes it (but not as much as the sofa).
Update: The loose fitting cushion has become more of a problem as the dog has taken to dragging it out of the bed and playing with it - or humping it (she's a neutered female). I'm going to try and find a way of velcro-ing it into the bed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 11 Dec. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this to give as a gift, but I'm too embarrassed to give something this cheap-looking, clunky and heavy. The red paint has bled into the white star pattern - not in a deliberate, hand-made sort of way but like it's been mass produced and clumsily painted. If I'd seen it in a shop I wouldn't have bought it, certainly wouldn't pay more than a fiver for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful way to learn and practise theory, but interface is dated and limited, 24 Nov. 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I got this DVD for my teenage daughter who will be learning to drive soon. She tried it on a PC running Windows 7. It is designed to work on just about anything with a DVD, including Mac, PC, consoles and DVD players. The DVD ran automatically when loaded, with some cheery music - best to have headphones ready before loading.
The interface very much seems to be designed as an interactive DVD, to use in a DVD player - it does work on the PC but has a dated look and feel to the interface. Daughter said it reminded her of primary school educational maths videos. When run in full-screen mode on our PC, the DVD player application controls obscured some of the buttons in the program - if this happens, you need to run it in windowed mode (and expand the window to fill most of the screen) for best results.
As well as introduction and instructions, there is a section with the Highway code, in text, to read - an alternative to reading the booklet. Another option gives multiple choice questions - you can choose whether to be asked about just a particular topic, or anything. The questions are read out to you as well as displayed on the screen. The test questions and practice exam are a very good way to test yourself and identify areas you need to practise - probably the most useful part of the DVD.
The section on case studies gives examples and sample questions and advice on how to answer but not a practice test.
There is an explanation of the hazard perception test and several sample videos showing how the hazard perception test works, first showing a sample video, then again with the hazard(s) circled in red at the appropriate time. This is of limited use as there is no practice test, and getting the timing right is one of the hardest parts of this test, knowing how early you can start clicking and how many times you can click without losing points. Sadly the DVD is very little help with this.
Finally there are sample videos about car maintenance and safety, with model answers.
This DVD is a very useful aid for learning the highway code and preparing for the theory exam. However, the dated interface and limited functionality make it less useful than I'd hoped, and the 90s school video look and feel were initially off-putting to my teenager, although she agrees that it's much easier to learn with this than a book.

Tacwise Z3 Stapler 4-in-1 Nailer Kit
Tacwise Z3 Stapler 4-in-1 Nailer Kit
Price: £33.56

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, handy kit for home and garden, 17 Nov. 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I'm not a DIY enthusiast but end up doing most of the small jobs around the house and garden, so was quite keen to try out this handy gadget. The TacWise Z3 Tacker kit is a really useful tool for all sorts of household & garden jobs. It consists of a tacker (like a large stapler), various staples, nails and pins, and a staple remover. The stapler is bright orange, and not too heavy to use with one hand. It is easy to load the staples. I found the grip very comfortable and easy to hold securely.
The handle locks into a safety position - my one complaint is that it took me a while to release it, as it's quite stiff, and the instructions (little icons on the side of the stapler) aren't entirely clear - and even longer to lock it again after use, but now that I've worked out what to do, I'm less worried about breaking the handle by pushing/pulling it too hard.
There are no instructions with the kit, just little icons printed on the side of the gun showing what types of staples/nails to use, how to load and lock, and how to adjust the height for cable staples/other things. These are pretty well all you need, and I guess this way you won't lose the instructions!
So far I have used this for attaching wire supports to fences to hold up plants, and to fix wire netting to block holes in the fence and keep the dog in the garden. It is EXCELLENT for this job. As long as you can see the end of the stapler, it is pretty easy to position it, and you don't need to apply too much pressure to the handle to trigger it - this means you can staple at awkward angles, with one hand, and reach places that would be really awkward with a hammer and nail. The staples have all fired neatly and cleanly except once when I didn't have the gun positioned firmly enough. So far they've not shown any signs of rusting in our English autumn weather.
I haven't yet had an opportunity to use the nails and headless pins, but will update my review if there's anything to add. However, this gadget has already earned a place in my toolbox for its usefulness around the garden.

Zest Black & Red Sparkly 3D Bat Halloween Earrings - Pierced Ears
Zest Black & Red Sparkly 3D Bat Halloween Earrings - Pierced Ears
Offered by Zest Clothing
Price: £3.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun earrings for Halloween, 12 Nov. 2014
Good fun earrings ideal for Halloween. The bats are quite big, bigger than I expected, but the earrings are very lightweight and don't drag on your ears - they can catch on your hair and clothes if you're not careful. The glittery pom-pom bodies of the bats were rather squashed when they arrived from being packed flat, but they look fine on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value picture frame, 12 Nov. 2014

Happy with the quality for the price - it's not the strongest of frames but does the job for displaying a picture, easy enough to fit and looks good on the wall.

3.0 out of 5 stars Look OK but too heavy for me, 12 Nov. 2014
The earrings are quite attractive and look just like the picture, but I found them heavy and can't wear them for long without my ears becoming uncomfortable. They were a bit bigger than I expected - it's difficult to judge scale from an image.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful sized sleeper earrings, 12 Nov. 2014
Nice gold earrings, which are the size I wanted - I find smaller ones can be fiddly and awkward to put in and out, and larger ones bend easily. These earrings are very slim and once fitted can rotate easily through 360 degrees - on the downside, as they are so slim they will bend quite easily. The diamond cut pattern is subtle and almost invisible from a distance but gives them a bit of a sparkle. Note that they are only diamond cut on one side of the ring, so there's a right and left. The post that fits into the tube is quite short, which means they can come undone quite easily (this might be a good or bad thing). The gift box was a nice bonus and kept them safe in transit.

Halloween Party Pack with LED Candles, Battery Pumpkin Fairy Lights & Bat Garland by Lights4fun
Halloween Party Pack with LED Candles, Battery Pumpkin Fairy Lights & Bat Garland by Lights4fun

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value child-friendly decorations., 6 Nov. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good value Halloween themed decorations. The battery operated pumpkin lights are bright enough in a dark room to be effective and not too scary. They are battery operated so can be hung anywhere, and the lights stay cool to the touch. The bats in the garland are cute rather than scary, and the battery operated candles flicker realistically - not bright enough to see anything by, but great to decorate a mantlepiece or windowsill. Great for kids, and not too cutesy for a teen or adult.

Timex Women's Watch T44563SU
Timex Women's Watch T44563SU

3.0 out of 5 stars Great light, useful date function, but poor contrast display and heavy case, 19 Oct. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is quite a large watch for a women's style, and looks perfectly acceptable on a man; however the strap is quite short, and even on my smallish wrist, I've only got 3 spare holes in the strap, so wouldn't fit a much larger wrist. The display is not as easy to read as I'd hoped, as the numbers are silver, and if the light is from the wrong angle, they can be almost invisible against the white face. The hands are outlined in silver too, which means they're not as easy to see if the light is wrong. The dial itself is 24mm across and the whole case is 34mm across.
The watch keeps good time, and I like the minute hand, the date function, and especially the light - press the button at the side and the whole face lights up with a blueish light which doesn't seem to significantly drain the battery. This is the best function of the watch, and the main reason I bought a Timex. The hands also glow in the dark, which is a nice feature.
Adjusting the time and date is reasonably easy - the button is fiddly, and you need fingernails, but it is handy being able to pull the button halfway out to change the date without winding the time painfully through 24 hours or more at the end of a short month!
The strap is made of a very soft leather, and fairly comfortable, except that one of the strap loops is fastened with a stitch which rubs against my wrist - it can be twisted out of the way but repositions itself every now and then. It has lasted nearly a year so far, including getting wet a couple of times, without significant wear.
I do find the watch a little heavy, and if the strap is loose, it twists itself around annoyingly so the face is on the underside of my wrist - I need to have the strap uncomfortably tight to prevent this. I wouldn't buy another watch this size.
The watch is supposed to be water resistant to 50m. I wouldn't risk swimming in it but have got it wet a few times without any ill effects.
It's an OK watch - I love the light, but the poor contrast display and annoying tendency to twist round on my wrist mean I wouldn't buy this one again.
