5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating novelization of the Dreyfus Affair, 6 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I had heard in passing of the Dreyfus Affair but never known the details. I suspect a straight history would be rather dry, but Harris brings it all to life in this well written and engaging book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another victim of FOX short-sightedness :-(, 18 May 2014
Seen the first couple of episodes on Sky and looked like it was shaping up to be a cracking little series. Very Blade Runner influenced in look and the ideas. Now cancelled by the same pusillanimous people who killed off Firefly, so this will be the only series unless the online campaigns to get another network to pick it up are successful :-(

Exploring Health Communication Language in Action (Routledge Introductions to Applied Linguistics)
Exploring Health Communication Language in Action (Routledge Introductions to Applied Linguistics)
by Kevin Harvey
Edition: Paperback
Price: £25.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical application of linguistic techniques, 21 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is an interesting book for academic linguists and for health professionals. For the health professionals some of the technicalities of what the authors are doing in their analysis can be a little baffling (unless you happen to have a degree in English!), but the practical application of what they say is interesting and thought provoking. Sections on how doctors, nurses and others communicate are particularly interesting (and pointing out the different methods they tend to use is a useful development of the usual discussion of professional differences). Their is also an discussion of lay people's use of internet and electronic forums in help-seeking, which also has implications for the current clinical situation where most patients / service users have already made efforts to find out about their condition prior to consulting a health professional.

Suma Fairtrade Organic Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Coffee Beans 1 kg
Suma Fairtrade Organic Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Coffee Beans 1 kg
Price: £19.95

5.0 out of 5 stars Fairtrade, organic, and very tasty..., 21 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Coffee is an individual thing, Yirgacheffe is always described as 'fruity' because it is less bitter than many others. I love it, and only use other beans when I run out. Plus it's organic and fairtrade (this one tells you which co-operative group it comes from in Ethiopia) so you can feel good about supporting the farmers too...

Timbuk2 Kindle Envelope Sleeve with 360 degree protection, Black/Black/Black [will only fit Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle (5th Generation), Kindle Touch (4th Generation) and Kindle (7th Generation)]

5.0 out of 5 stars Good protection for my Paperwhite, 29 Dec. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Manly all-black version protects my new Kindle Paperwhite perfectly. Slide the paperwhite out for reading and pop it back in when you're done. Plenty of padding to give confidence that it won't get damage in the rough and tumble of commuting or travelling, and at home it keeps the dust off. Well made item, very happy with my purchase.

The Wargaming Compendium
The Wargaming Compendium
by Henry Hyde

5.0 out of 5 stars Featherstone for the current generation..., 3 Aug. 2013
Henry Hyde's labour of love fills a gap in the literature - returning to the books of the 1970s and 1980s which attempted a comprehensive introduction to the hobby of tabletop miniatures wargaming. This is a beautifully crafted effort to describe the current gaming scene and one which has paid off handsomely, well laid out and covering almost everything you could think of that the beginner would need to know (as well as some stuff which I didn't know, even as an old hand). With an admitted UK focus it covers gaming in the digital age and includes some excellent photos, as well as a brand new horse and musket rule set. Every gamer should put this on their wish list, and if you have even a passing interest in gaming with miniatures this would be the perfect introduction to the hobby.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting premise and plot, but not a great novel., 24 July 2013

This is a book worth reading for its political point of view, and I would urge people to do so with this in mind. Sadly the characterisation let's it down, the stereotyped individuals lack depth and are purely secondary to the tale that is being told...
