Pride and Prejudice (Penguin Classics)
Pride and Prejudice (Penguin Classics)
by Jane Austen
Edition: Paperback
Price: 3.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Not proud of being prejudiced, 20 Nov 2011
I must admit I never wanted to read Jane Austen novels (partly due to often inadequate adaptations) but at last I discovered that author. And I am very happy about it. Packed with smart dialogues, intriguing plot twists and elegant humour, her books are the best example of a female intimate and social prose. Modern so called best-sellers are not quite there yet, I'm afraid. Also a refreshing change from very depressing post-modernist creations.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true classic story, 19 Oct 2011
Not only the novel is one of my favourite ones, but I also like this very edition from Collector's Library series. Will have to invest in more volumes from the same series.

Zuleika Dobson (Modern Library)
by Max Beerbohm
Edition: Paperback
Price: 13.99

5.0 out of 5 stars pleasure to read, 3 Oct 2011
I enjoyed reading this novel. Would recommend it to anyone who likes English satyre. Elegant, delightful prose, fine depiction of Oxford of the 19th century and the life as a student of one of its colleges. The main character is the true "heroine of her times". A very clever, entertaining book.

1.0 out of 5 stars utter rubbish, 4 April 2011
Not worth reading. A subjective non story. And why such a pejorative description of people of Marx? Is it something personal?

3.0 out of 5 stars not the best biography of Proust, 14 Nov 2009
and even less is related to the modernists' party at the Majestic. Overall an interesting read but I haven't got with this book what I was hoping for when I bought it.

1.0 out of 5 stars burn before reading, 1 Nov 2009
This review is from: The Shadow Of The Wind (Paperback)
Not quite sure how such a banal book can become a bestseller. It has nothing in common with good literature. You won't miss anything if you never read it. I battled to finish just to be able to write a negative review. What a waste of time.
