4.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff, 10 Oct. 2010
From the moment I started this book it was clear the author has no positive biases towards European imperialism (which many of us still have today), which allows him to examine the harshest realities of the colonisation process and make fair judgement. Particularly interesting is the mixture between the 'real' history (detailing what the colonisers did in the colonies) and intellectual history of the time period (in which the intellectual justifications for the atrocities are detailed). The real strength however lies in the communication of the main argument that the Holocaust was a logical continuation of European racism in the colonial age. It is argued in such a gradual way that I realised the link between the Holocaust and European imperialism (forming the argument) at the same time the author mentioned it - he didn't have to convince me, as I'd read the evidence (previously in the book) and gradually made a logical connection. Note how I saw 'a logical connection' - there are other ways in which the Holocaust can be explained, I don't wish to say this here author's is the definitive one.

My issues with the book are the non-history parts and its ethical approach to history. The non-history parts, in which he writes this weird travel diary, made no sense to me, and even after really thinking I couldn't find them having any relation to the historical topic (extermination of the 'brutes') at hand; this begs me to question why they were included at all. Secondly, the author approaches the process of colonisation almost purely from an ethical standpoint - I know in the introduction he says it isn't a piece of historical research, but because he's writing about an historical topic, it ultimately comes across as a heavily biased history book as opposed to a book written to criticise racism. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just a bit weird.

This is just some rehearsal tape with no substance at all. It all sounds like a bored jam with nothing to gleam from it at all. Don't waste your money it's just someone, not deep purple, cashing in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chico fab Chico, 18 Mar. 2006
This review is from: It's Chico Time (Audio CD)
Chico's first release has blown me away! I did'nt know who he was until I heard this song and was instantly attracted to the man behind the voice. The song really makes your body move and you can hear his body move as he was recording it.
I cant wait for his album as I will be one of those sadoes who camp outside the stores to get the first copy and pay full price for it as well. I only hope I dont play his single so much as the neighbours may come round and stab me.BR>Rock on Chico you make me cheeky.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anarchy Rulz!!!!!, 6 July 2005
Anarchy Rulz '99 was an excellent PPV, here are the matches:
Match 1: Lance Storm (with Dawn Marie) vs. Jerry Lynn 9/10
Great fast-paced technical match. A great way to start the show.
Match 2: Simon Diamond and Tony De Vito vs. Nova and Chris Chetti 3/10
This wasn't really a match because you didn't really know what was going on most of the time. The only bad match in this PPV.
Match 3: Three way Dance: Little Guido (with Big Sal) vs. Super Crazy vs. Tajiri 10/10
WOW! This match was amazing, so much great high flying bits-there wasn't one bad thing about this match. It had everything!
Match 4: Sabu vs. Justin Credible 8/10
I would say that this was the best hardcore match of the night. They use tons of weapons in this one. This was a great match.
Match 5: ECW World Heavyweigt Championsip Three way dance: Taz vs. Tanaka vs. Mike Awesome 10/10
This was the match of the night. It had so many great bits in. Some of those are an awesome bomb off the top rope through a table an awesome bomb over the top rope through a table and many more great bits. Tanaka hits all three of his finishers.
Match 6:ECW tag team championsip: Tommy Dreamer (with Francine) and Raven vs. Steve Corino and Rhyno (with Jack Victory) 7/10
A Good match but too short. If it was longer it could of been better. Loads of DDTs hit.
Match 7: ECW TV Chanpionship: Rob Van Dam vs. Balls Mahoney 8/10
A good way to end the show, a great performance by both men.
Overall Anarchy Rulz '99 is a great PPV and a must buy.
