2.0 out of 5 stars Steve has become his own parody., 30 Mar. 2015

I'm now 51 years old, and have loved Steve's music since I picked up on 'Defector', being at that time a Genesis fan. So, I was at the ready to buy 'Cured' when it was first released, and have bought and followed and loved every album since, without qualification...
The production team reached it's zenith with, 'Out of the Tunnels mouth' and 'Squackett'.
IMHO, the wheels started to come off with the release of Steve's last album, 'Beyond the shrouded horizon'. That, and now, 'Wolflight' both sound like parodies of, 'Wild Orchids', 'To watch the storms', and 'Genesis revisited': the themes have become well trodden, over used, and too familiar.
Oh to hear another surprising shift of tone as experienced with, 'Darktown'?!!!
It's high time for a root and branch clean out.

Very, very naughty.
The best and most delicious popcorn ever created.
It's so good, you'll be lucky to get a look in if you hand it around at a party.
So beware, and order a tin just for yourself - oh, and the one you love. :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Very sad., 8 Oct. 2014
Prior to this being shown on the BBC, I sincerely hoped it would give Steve Hackett a fair shout. To my complete disgust, Steve was almost completely ignored. I'm tempted to write, 'as usual'. The guy is not even afforded what may be described as his fair share of air time. As it stands, Steve receives nothing. A true, crying shame, as the musicianship and writing talent of the Parts is quite extraordinary. As a unit, they are known as Genesis, and no member deserves to be ignored.
Of course Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett have nothing to contribute to the Banks/Collins/Rutherford era, however, neither Peter nor Steve should be omitted from those years when each of them contributed their fair share of talent to the group unit.
One of the most extraordinary aspects of Genesis is the staggering quality of all the solo work, and yet, Steve Hackett's ex-Genesis work is simply not even referred to.
The end product of this editorial monstrosity appears bitter, sad, and cringe worthy.
Very sad.

There may be very good grounds to believe this to be an original perspective on human psychology.
It may deal effectively with the Subject/Object problem?

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful., 30 Mar. 2014

This is the sort of effort one would have considered substandard on a 1970's edition of 'New Faces'.
Sounds like a schoolboy wrote the lyrics.
Bloody awful.

The Beatles: The White Album
The Beatles: The White Album

5.0 out of 5 stars Astonishing., 30 Mar. 2014

The astonishing aspect of this Beatle album is the way it can be so different all the way through and yet add up to a complete whole.
I doubt if there is another album in existence that comes close to it in this regard.

You must be prepared - this album is ALL OVER THE PLACE - and this is the pure quality of it: It's a show, it's a spectacle, in turns catchy, in turns silly, in turns moving and disturbing, in turns angry, in turns affectionate, you decide.
But stick with it over and over and you will not be the same again.

The songs stand alone, but as a complete experience it touches your soul.

Wow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas from beginning to end!, 23 Dec. 2013
This album is absolutely fantastic.
I must say that i feel it to be one of the best Christmas albums i have in my collection.
It is soooo Christmassy!!

The arrangements range from lounge cool to pure groove.
I never felt 'The Holly and the Ivy' could sound so groovy - so groovy its almost pornographic!!!

Just amazing - 5 stars and NO messing about.

This CD has made Christmas 2013 for this house!
Everyone i have played it to loves it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that funny., 3 Dec. 2013

This review is from: The History of Farting (Paperback)
This book is rather short and lacking in humour.
Considering the subject matter, i anticipated major laughs.
To this day, i have not finished reading it.

So, you see, the irony is that is it s***.
