Star Wars The Old Republic: Annihilation
Star Wars The Old Republic: Annihilation

3.0 out of 5 stars Old republic, 20 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The most recent book set in the old republic era in the star wars universe is an okay read, some good action sequences and Drew Karpyshyn uses a non-force user as protagonist (Theron) cleverly however the ending seemed too far-fetched as Theron defeated a sith lord with a broken gun. Good for a fan of star wars but the weakest book from Drew Karpyshyn.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic, 20 July 2013

Cormac McCarthy has written a classic. The plot is very simple, a man and his son surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. McCarthy expertly analyzes the human race and the horrors some will commit to survive, from cannibalism to torture. The bleakness of the story is offset by the characters finding the simple things in life we take as a norm, water, food, shelter, companionship, clothing etc however it never lasts for long. This book makes you question society and how hollow it is because it cannot help any of the characters. The boy slowly loses his naivete and innocence, which is bleak like his surroundings.

I've recently read this whilst playing the videogame The Last Of Us, brilliant combination as they compliment each other.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant as always, 20 July 2013

Richard writes sci-fi brilliantly. Answers questions about the martians that were left unexplained in prior books, some horror slipped into the action and politics.

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tomb Raider (PS3) (Video Game)
Brilliant game, story is quite simple and at times clique but well done, auxiliary characters were okay I've seen worse. The island gameplay was fun, unlocking new gadgets or secondary fire on your 4 guns was cool as this helped reach secret areas where collectable stuff like diaries were. Beginning of game full of annoying QTE's but the rest of game was fine.

As good as Bioshock 1. Good story and deeply customisable lead character! The middle part of the game does drag on but the ending(s) are brilliant and change according to your moral decisions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 19 Jun. 2013

This review is from: The Last Of Us (PS3) (Video Game)
The story, characters and scenery/graphics are the best I've ever seen on PS3, totally perfect but the gameplay takes time to get used to as you die very quickly. Completely different to Uncharted 3 but as ever Naughty Dog smashes it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, 19 Jun. 2013

This book is brilliant, Luceno writes beautifully and ties in the prequel trilogy and the expanded universe comics perfectly. He humanises Emperor Palpatine and doesn't make him just the usual bad guy. Was impressed as it was better than expected!
