Exactly what I needed for my wedding place cards, these are a lovely quality card stock, with a smooth finish and the delicate gold border is lovely. They're matte, not shiny, and look wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book, perfect for what I need!, 15 Jan 2014

I hadn't initially realised how small this item would be - I was expecting the size of a jotter notebook, but it's actually about half that size. This is actually perfect for me, as it will fit into all my bags. There is plenty of room for writing, it's a high-quality book, and the corners tear off the pages so you can find which week you're on with no difficulty. The facts and doodle pages are an excellent idea and make it great fun to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story, beautiful edition, 7 Jan 2014

I've been a huge fan of John Allison's work for years, but never before bought any of his books. Bad Machinery, his latest comic endeavour, lends itself more neatly to the book format as it is clearly in self-contained 'cases'. This book is charming, whimsical and great fun, and it is a beautiful edition, with high quality printing and lovely image reproduction.

This is a very bright and cheerful shirt, excellent quality and perfect true-to-size fit. My partner loves it - although the orange could be seen as quite alarming, it is very good fun.

Pumpkin Patch W3TG80045 Baby Girl's Dress Tangerine 12-18 Months
Pumpkin Patch W3TG80045 Baby Girl's Dress Tangerine 12-18 Months

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty dress, 7 Jan 2014

This dress has a charming pattern, and is clearly well-made. The fabric was slightly more lightweight when I anticipated, but that wasn't problematic. My only issue was that the belt seemed to be quite a cheap material, made from the sort of belting used on school gym equipment,, quite rough and heavy, which wasn't what I expected for such an otherwise delicate and pretty dress.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb quality stuff, 7 Jan 2014

I've been using Orofluido shampoo and conditioner with the orofluido hair oil since last August, and my hair is in the best condition it's ever been in. It has grown to as long as it ever has, and is much softer, shinier and healthier. I keep getting compliments on it and it's lovely. Highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good read, 17 April 2012

I was recommended this by someone on a forum when I was looking for a 'coming into powers' book that was aimed at older people. Often I've found them pitched at high-school aged teens - 14 to 16 years old - which has frustrated me as I've got older, since I enjoy that style of story a lot, but am now looking for something a bit meatier.

This was absolutely perfect. Whilst not strictly a fantasy, it deals with a group of University students who all find themselves with superpowers after a storm one night - flight, super speed, telepathy, invisibility and super strength.

There are no traditional villains, it's just a very human story with the powers used as a catalyst to explore the lives and developments of these characters, set against the backdrop of the run up to, and short time after, 9/11.

It's a wonderful and very compelling read, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Underthought, underwritten, oversold, 22 Feb 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was a free ebook, which is the only reason I'm not cross that I read it. It's self-published, and you can tell - the pacing is off, scenes which should be important are rushed and in some cases it feels like they are missed out entirely, whilst other scenes, such as a fascination with the main character's school nemesis at the beginning of the book take up a lot of wordage considering they're never mentioned again. The character development is non-existant, and the relationship development is patchy. Jensen goes from finding Liam creepy in one scene to "starting to adore" him in the very next. Explanations are left out - we are told her sister is a 'con artist', and just left to believe it with no backing up of it. That's a fairly large plot-bomb to drop casually into a novel and then ignore. And how does that seem to have affected the main character? Not too badly, she's just bummed she can't go to the cinema. She doesn't change as a character through the story, and whilst she nominally reacts to events, they don't seem to really bother her all that much, she's sassing away two lines later. The dialogue is pretty clunky in places too. Why does Liam trust her after exchanging perhaps not even 500 words with her in the whole book?

Too much suspension of disbelief is expected, mixed with too little world and character building. The book doesn't have an internal logic, so it can't follow one and it all seems a bit like nonsense. Also, the clunking references to Arthurian legend and Captain Exposition! moments made me cringe.

The spelling is good though. And it is short.
