5.0 out of 5 stars comedy horror, 29 Feb 2012
This review is from: Zombieland [DVD] [2010] (DVD)
this is zombies with pazzaz and although i hate to give americans credit i have to here its brilliant.the comedy is great and the action comes thick and fast woody harelson is excellent.zombism has spread across america and four people set out on a roadtrip like you have never seen or could ever wish to see.there is also a cameo role from bill murray, you will laugh and may even be scared especially at the zombie clown near the end.I love this film and have seen it several times already and will be watching it many times to come.

this is a vampire film of the finest quality blood, gore and humour.you would not know from the first hour it was a vampire movie but even the first hour has plenty of action.it stars quentin tarantino and george clooney plus several parts played by cheech marin.it is about two brothers trying to escape the law and in to mexico.they pick up a family and take them hostage and escape over the border but decide to stop for food and drink at a bar called the titty twister and the vamp fun begins.this is one of the all time greats it makes interview with a vampire look like a kids film.if you have never seen it buy it now you wont regret it and when you have youll watch it over and over.

3.0 out of 5 stars hammer enthusiasts only, 29 Feb 2012
these films are only for the hammer fans as they are not particularly good more titillation than horror.they have the feel of an italian horror film than british more interested in nakedness than anything else.the price is cheap for two films but it needs to be,unless you are a fan of this kind of film or you dont mind risking the cost then they are worth it but not worth much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars remember the alamo, 29 Feb 2012
This review is from: The Alamo [DVD] (DVD)
great acting particularly billy bob thornton as davey(david) crockett and the storyline is about as accurate as is possible although crocketts death scene is hotly contested by some americans as its not as much the heroic death as they would like, but it is based on a dairy found a few years ago.the story follows the american fight for texas against the mexicans who then owned texas but allowed settlers to live there.santa anna was the leader or rather dictator of the mexican territories who modelled himself on nepoleon he was also ruthless.the finest scene is the fiddle playing one although there are many others including some great fight scenes.this is much better the the john wayne version more realistic and true to life.im not 100% sure but i think the film was made to this length because that was the length of the final battle at the alamo.it is the most fantastic movie and is something you will watch more than once i have.

5.0 out of 5 stars great fun for all, 29 Feb 2012
This review is from: The Goonies [DVD] (DVD)
this for me is one of the best eightys movies i loved it as a kid and i love it now.sean astin (sam in lord of the rings) stars along with several other star names but the only real stars of this film are the characters chunk and sloth.the only thing that i will say is that when i got this i showed my nephew and niece and unlike on tv the dvd has quite a lot of swearing at the very start.I cannot recommend this highly enough it has everything adventure comedy bad guys good guys and a pirate ship.

3.0 out of 5 stars great ending, 29 Feb 2012
this is a contender for worst dracula movie in the series but it is saved by two things that scars of dracula did not have one is peter cushing the other is a decent ending this for me has one of the best endings in the series apart from that its pretty dire.at the risk of repeating myself cushing and lee are really good, joanna lumley takes the place of stephanie beecham as van helsings granddaughter but is not as good.it is worth watching if you have never seen it you may love it some do but for me its no better than ok.in this movie dracula is the mastermind businessman behind the production of bubonic plague that is to be used to wipe out the worlds population.

4.0 out of 5 stars fond memories, 28 Feb 2012
This review is from: Dracula A.D. 1972 [DVD] (DVD)
lets start with the bad points firstly the opening sequence is set in 1872 several years before the first meeting in the first movie and van helsing has a different christian name, but i can forgive that as it is an excellent sequence.secondly is the opening title music really bad 70s sweeney type sound.thirdly is the groovy man type speaking it does get on your nerves and does not help at all.the good points stephanie beechams boobs and the reuniting of lee and cushing just as they should be,cushing is great in this film his performance can rival any other of his as van helsing.here the pluses outweigh the negatives and its actually a good movie especially if you grew up in the early seventies and can remember this time and this movie.the seventies was camp which is why this film comes over in that way all the same i love this movie it brings back memories especially the terrible clothes.

Scars of Dracula [DVD] [1970]
Scars of Dracula [DVD] [1970]
Dvd ~ Christopher Lee
Price: £10.00

3.0 out of 5 stars dont expect much, 28 Feb 2012
this is a candidate for worst dracula film but it is the goriest.yes its bloody, bloody awful the actings poor the story does not follow on from the last movie and it has rubber bats flying about.it tries to shock with more violence and more gore than any before it rather than trying to improve the standard.the budget was low for this movie but even so more could have been made of it.the only real upside is lees greater screen time and a greater number of scripted lines.putting the film aside lee himself is magnificent and is in my opinion lees best performance of dracula because he was given the chance to show his abilities,he is one of our all time great actors but was not seen in that way due to his association with dracula.the only reason this got three stars from me was because of lees performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars I hope i give you the s~~ts, 28 Feb 2012
This review is from: Dog Soldiers [DVD] [2002] (DVD)
this is the kind of movie the americans could only dream of making they have neither the skill or humour to achieve movie making of this stature.it has several very good british actors and not only has some very gory scenes but has some very humorous scenes as well such as when a werewolf is about to eat one of the squadies he says "i hope i give you the s~~ts".the film follows some soldiers training in scotland who end up fighting for their lives against a group of werewolves.this is one of the best films you will ever see its fantastic not"bone".

3.0 out of 5 stars the hammer goes down, 28 Feb 2012
three businessmen seeking thrills one of them peter salis (and no the other two were not foggy and compo)meet with lord courtley ralph bates who offer them the biggest thrill of all resurecting the devil himself.lee hardly appears in this film which does not do this movie any favours.some of the acting is good(ralph bates)but the film is quite weak in comparison to previous dracula films instead relys on nudity and more violence to make up for lack of atmosphere and a decent script.although nowhere near the best it is neither near the worst and if you could get this for less than five pounds it would be worth a look.maybe im being a bit hard on it after four really great films it had a lot to live up to.more cheese gromit.
