This is one of a trilogy of books from Spencer, Hamburg, Liverpool & America as far as I know. Not sure if there is a fourth.

However, he is a great writer in where he goes to great lengths to seek out the information bound between these covers for the reader. It cannot be easy to try and track some or all the people who were there when the Beatles played there, so that is a task in itself as you can only then rely on what has been written in other books, which, while well intended are not always accurate, therefore the same mistake gets repeated, but not in this case!

Worth buying for the Beatle maniac in your life!

This is a guy who i really, really like, a great singer, songwriter, versatile and very talented.
He has a voice that could melt the coldest of hearts as he has with previous excellent offers.

However, this is a serious break from his sweeping orchestral tunes on previous offerings, a bit more 'left of centre' for Richard, which is maybe what he wanted to do, personally it's not an album I would be putting o the CD player too often, certainly not to impress friends who would have heard me rant over his last album, which was superb.

A brilliant artist all round but this is not I am use to from Richard, but don't worry I am still a fan!

2.0 out of 5 stars Refer, 19 Dec 2013

A lot of books have been written on the Beatles, some are excellent, they are either full of historical information or great, unique photos, this book is none of the above, average to say the least, but NOT a book I would take out to refer to.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Rise and Rise, 19 Dec 2013

You feel like you were a fly on the wall in some of the scenes from this book.
Spencer does as Spencer does, he goes in to great detail and considering all the contact from his radio shows from the local musicians of the time he has a treasure full of information, just like the Beatles in Hamburg.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insight, 19 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a great insight to the material that was knocking around within the walls of Apple records.
While NOT all great tunes, the history in these CD's are beyond doubt essential in what was 'Apple' and what might have been
This has some great little gems on it, catchy tunes from bands that could have made it but unfortunately never did.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible, 19 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Anything I say about this book would not be enough praise. The research, the information, the back round, the people, the places, the time, the music.....and then.....The Beatles!!!

This is only the Beginning......

This should be used by any Beatles fan, Music professors, examiner for schools.....professors of English or any language, it is up there with the Collins Book of Literary English.

A must have for anyone interested in the rise of popular music both in the UK, Ireland, Europe, the States & Especially those countries that were not allowed listen to, never mind own or possess a Beatles Record in the 1960's.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Beatles....Boxed, 19 Dec 2013

What can you say about this writer?
How did he put it all together, where did he or how did he get all the info, because he would have to check the sources, cross check and check again as not all the information is in circulation. Great photos, great info, enough to get the Beatles at the BBC out to listen again.
Kevin did a great job the first time, he has excelled himself with this publication, he is up there with Mark Lewishon!

Brilliant!

2.0 out of 5 stars Description, 19 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The advert gave me the impression that this was one of those 'Had plastic' covers that are put on the back of your SLR camera, not the clear cellophane type pieces that they actually were, I could have picked them up here in Ireland for the same or less than the price here. Disappointed to say the least. Not the advertisers fault, just the perception of the advert, so, no offence intended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted, 19 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A great book, full of brilliant detail, great info, a necessary accompaniment to your Nikon D3100.
This is small enough for your camera bag but really big on help, it is essential to have and dip in and out of when required, especially if out taking shots and the weather takes a turn, it a self educator!
