Hated the style of writing in the first chapter but it got better when the story got going. I think the representation of Salander is true to the original books. I enjoyed the book overall.

This is a likeable book. A detective story woven into a lot of factual information about the life and death of Alan Turing. I found the thought processes and behaviour of the detective unlikely and inexplicable at first but if you put up with it the story kind of works. Ending rather sudden. Glaring fault by the translator - no one in England in 1954 would have used the phrase "taste experience".

2.0 out of 5 stars Just too laid back, 3 Feb. 2016

I have bought previous solo albums by Brett Anderson that I have liked and though a Suede fan I can appreciate the slower stuff. This however is just terminally dreary - mainly because the backing is just not up to it. These songs would be much better with a more guitar based slightly plugged in setup - junk the wind instruments

Another typical Parquet Courts (Actually Parkay Quarts in this case) album, who happen to spend a lot of their time sounding like the Velvet Underground. I have no particular problem with that except when they're a little too slavish.

Their second and third albums were amazing and justify the cost of the box set. First album just blues. 4th disappointing IMHO. 5th lacks the adventurousness of the 2nd and 3rd albums

Not bad but not the best Reacher and the last third of the book fairly obviously setting up a sequel which I want to read now :-)

Having been in the same A&E dept around the same time it was easy to identify with some of this book. The NHS staff do a fantastic job. Not only that I grew up in the 1960's dreaming of jet cars so this book is all good! (Even the bits that moved me to tears)
