1.0 out of 5 stars Hmmmn..., 5 Aug 2009
Not terribley comprehensive. First flip, very good but it is all over the shop in content. I was expecting a more medical standard teaching tool for my cosmetic patients whom wish to consider the use of BOTOX(R), fillers and peels so was disappointed. (Incidentally, all of the afore mentioned , when used with artistic skill and subtlety, can produce exceptional results in the right hands, just because Lulu has panned it,and Nicole has overdone it, dont dismiss it necessarily.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works !, 5 Aug 2009
This book blends common sense and also useful reminders of the physiology and anatomy of our largest organ- thats right, , our skin! We know that oily fish are good for us- make sure you opt for those that are line caught , sustainabley sourced. Please choose wild atlantic salmon and yellow fin only, not bluefin tuna! Ideally go for sardines, they arent in danger but have all of what we need.

It really does boost your skin, I was sceptical, but I could see the diffference in a few days, and a number of family and friends remarked too.

Why not give it a go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought for a Kipling lover, 5 Aug 2009
Whatever the soul-less naysayers may say, often politicaly correct droobalongs who have forgotten their sense of history and sense of self, RK was light years ahead of his time. How did he know SO much about the history of this wonderful nation, much of which was not proven at the time of his writings. A wonderful book. How many of your critics are even fit to stand in your shadow,Rudyard...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stoned Grannies in the Corner Shop!, 5 Aug 2009
This review is from: Saving Grace [2000] [DVD] (DVD)
This is a scream! BB is fab and is well supported by a very capable cast. Humour, pathos, drama, even some romance, there is something for everyone in this film. We showed this in our village hall film club on a 14 x 8 screen to an audience aged from 12 to 120, well, not far off it. Everyone was laughing and loved it- they clapped like mad at the end!
wait till you see the green house and its sky-show, as well as 2 WI grannies stoned in the corner shop- hysterical!! : ) x x

Apples for Jam: Recipes for Life
Apples for Jam: Recipes for Life
by Tessa Kiros

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, 5 Aug 2009
With this book, TK yet again reminds us of the joy of cooking and of eating food cooked with love. Try your favourite or even garden variety standard blahblah recipe. Then the next time, add LOVE into the preparation process, add the sensuality and artistry, even if it is a stew- your family will taste the enhanced result, I promise you.

Just for that little reminder, in deed, if not by direct suggestion, Tess once again, opens us up to turning on our gustative and olfactive senses on full volume!

A very simple recipe, but one which everyone raves over ( and I am a passionate cook and thrive in the cooking and feeding of friends and family, Spanish, Moroccan and high french as well as real indian cooking are my favourites )is Tess's version of tuna, tomato and black olives with pasta! Not an earth -shattering combination one might think, but it is the little nuances that make all the difference. Try it, it will blow you away!

Thankyou Tess for another lovely book : ) x x

Twelve: A Tuscan Cook Book
Twelve: A Tuscan Cook Book
by Tessa Kiros
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Another polished effort from Tess Kiros, 5 Aug 2009
As above, enough said! For all TK fans, and collectors of recipe books, it is worth finding a hardcover version, as this is a book that you will keep and use , if you are a lover of italian cuisine.

As ever, Tess brings each recipe to life by setting it within the context of her life experience, a memory from childhood which it evokes for her etc. You will find yourself thinking about your own childhood/food associations and how you would describe them for the pleasure of others, enticing them to try your favourite recipes too.

Seriously, you will, I cant be the only one to fall under the spell of her books...

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice one, Skye, 5 Aug 2009
This review is from: A Year in My Kitchen (Hardcover)
An Aussie born and raised girl, Skye has a fresh approach to the blending of flavours and textures, some UK/European cooks can, at time,s be a little hesitant to go for it!

Ske has created a very nice book, not quite the most beautiful cookbook ever" as some have said ( it is in fact Venezia by Tess Kiros!)but...it has three lovely ribbon markers in purple, burgundy and avocado green, which blend very nicely with the fresh artichoke and flower on the cover.

You will enjoy this book.
