1.0 out of 5 stars A beauty, and a beast, 31 Jan. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well, full credit to the guy above who found this easy to set up on AirPlay network.

Switch off for five seconds, plug a WLAN network cable into your router, also plug a WLAN into your PC, go to 122.33.43.22 on your browser, wait a bit for flashy lights, switch off again... wtf?! Have dropped Loewe a support email for help, but def not one for the faint of heart, or those not qualified in network maintenance.

Honestly, it's 2014 and I use a Mac. I want to plug it in via USB, download an app and smoke an e-cig while it does the rest.

Have given up trying to get it to work wirelessly device and am running it from my Airport Express via WLAN. Sounds good, looks brutally beautiful but in terms of the wireless audio I wanted in the kitchen at the moment I preferred the (broken) Bose I bought it to replace.

TomToms are beautiful and all, but there's a big problem with this particular package - the TomTom has about 700mb memory - the map is 800mb. it doesn't fit - totally useless!

check the forums before you buy this. they're awesome machines - i updated from the old Go to this - but this is maddening!

The Journalist and the Murderer
The Journalist and the Murderer
by Janet Malcolm
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Cleave the tautology of 'journalistic ethics', 21 Sept. 2005
In this beguiling work, Malcolm ascribes to the journalist-subject relationship the phenomenum which Heisenberg, working in atomic physics, characterised as the uncertainty principle: namely that through the process of observation, the observer alters the outcome.
To explore the question, she studies a curious legal case in which a triple-murderer successfully sued an author who reported his case: the jury ruled that the writer had wilfully and maliciously misled the convict to such a degree that he was liable, to the tune of $350k, for his subject's wounded feelings.
Malcolm, in forensic detail, attempts to determine the point at which journalistic licence becomes outright lying; and the point at which humouring a subject in order to extract a story becomes manipulation.
Although at times dry, and at others veering towards being sanctimonious, any working journalist who is not too proud or too self-deluded will at least feel uncomfortable pangs - even if they are not finally persuaded that their trade is 'morally indefensible.'

3.0 out of 5 stars x, y, zzzzzzzzzz, 6 Jun. 2005
This review is from: X&Y (Audio CD)
Album is ok, hovering amicably between the shimmery drama of Elbow and the soulless balladry of Keane. It won't change your life but Chris's falsetto is always pleasant.
It's amusing how the critics are shaking their heads and sighing that the band have not capitalised on their opportunity to 'do a radiohead' and produce an adventurous experimental album.
These being the same critics who greet every new radiohead album with sighs that it's not like their old stuff.
Funny ol game rock n roll.

And There Was Light...
And There Was Light...
Offered by Smaller World Future
Price: £21.57

5.0 out of 5 stars In the beginning..., 30 Nov. 2004
This review is from: And There Was Light... (Audio CD)
The criminally overlooked debut from the most criminally under-rated and unique band of the 90's.
NY-based Austrian jazz-metallers (unique enough yet?) HPZinker would go on to record the more melodic Beyond it All, the more focussed Hovering and the heavier Mountains of Madness - but it was on this early recording, 6 demos knocked out in a basement studio with help from a tinpot drum machine, that they nailed their sound. Part Metallica, part Sabbath, part Nick Drake; the hallmark is a bewitching fusion of musical virtuosity, alternating raging power and quiet despair. The set hits its zenith on My Days Seem To Be Long, an 8-plus minute lament opening with a pretty picked acoustic guitar riff and culminating in a howling wall of fuzz. Unforgettable once heard - but newcomers may be better off with Staying Loose, a compilation of 'hits' (actually, they almost had one, with Evan Dando of the Lemonheads on vocals) that opens the door to the majestic frailty of the Zinkersound.
