Loved the first book and this book simply continued with an enthralling epic story and world. Wonderful twists and turns, great characters, great full stop.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the quickest book you will ever read but worthwhile, 12 Nov 2010
This review is from: Feersum Endjinn (Paperback)
Just a quick review from myself, the phonetic parts of the book can be difficult, and certainly slow, to read but when the strands of the story come together the time you have taken will seem worthwhile. Great book, amazing imagination again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Film, 26 May 2008
This review is from: The Orphanage [DVD] (DVD)
I'm usually not the sort of person who will jump during so called scary moments in "horror" movies, but I genuinely jumped out of my seat several times while watching this movie (and so did the rest of the cinema). Some of the scenes in the film are just fantastic, the "knock on wood" game being a highlight. The tension is brilliantly cranked up and this film will easily remain top of the genre for years to come. Everything in the film is class, if you want to see a genuinely great horror film then this is it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply fantastic, 20 May 2008
This is simply one of the finest shows ever to be created. The quality of the show is astounding. The show never ceases to suprise and simply wont pander to populist choices in how the story unfolds. The child actors are brilliant, their stories are portrayed realistically yet they twist, turn and unfold in ways that you dont expect. Different characters are to the fore yet it doesnt diminish your enjoyment from previous, this show has been getting credit but not what it truly deserves -its remarkable.

If you havent seen any of The Wire - get series 1, watch it, then you'll soon have bought and watched the rest.

The Secret Man: The Story of Watergate's Deep Throat
The Secret Man: The Story of Watergate's Deep Throat

5.0 out of 5 stars If you liked All the Presidents Men....., 22 Oct 2007
I ,initially, didnt know too much about the Watergate Scandal until I had read this book. I knew the facts that Nixon had broken various laws including the breaking into offices & wire tapping etc. This book truly illuminates the scandal and adds the previously unseen angle from Deep Throat's perspective. The shadowy meetings and guidance given to Woodward by 'Deepthroat' almost seems like a dance at times or tactical cat & mouse. Although the books focus is on Deeptroat by default it is also about Woodwards journey over the start of the scandal to the emotional time of Deepthroat's unveiling. A great book shedding light on an amazing scandal, the difficulties on reporting it and the shadowy figure of Deepthroat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must See!, 7 Jun 2007
Although I can watch this show on FX, I far prefer to get the DVD box set so i can enjoy this fantastic show without having to hang on a week at a time. The acting is top notch, with different characters coming to the fore throughout Series 1-3 as the development of each protagonist grows. Some of the "match ups" are fantastic. McNulty's obsession with Stringer Bell, Bouzone and Omar almost balletic showdown to name but a few. Well written, well acted, atmospheric, if you find a better show then let me know as ill want to watch it.

Road Work: Among Tyrants ,Heroes, Rogues, and Beasts

4.0 out of 5 stars Read it!, 4 Jun 2007
The broad range of topics and Bowden's writing style make this a great read. Stories from Saddam to Black Rhinocerus and ending up with the Philadelphia Police Corruption scandal (fantastic end story) makes sure things never become dull. Bowden manages to put across each protagonist's point of view without tainting it with his own personal opinion, this really stuck out in this book for me. He manages to separate the opinion of the protagonists and his own quite beautifully while letting you come to your own opinions. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must See!, 1 Jun 2007
Absolutely loved this film. Everything is faultless, the acting, the cinematography, the story, the special effects. The Faun looks fantastic yet still has a distinct air of menace. If you want to watch something that fits into the "a bit different" category and dont want a run of the mill hollywood film to watch then look no further. My only regret concerning the film is that ill never get to see it again for the first time!
