3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job but has a hum, 29 May 2014

I don't know whether this is just my unit or a more general problem, but although this transformer powers my devices fine it hums, loudly and annoyingly. Build quality is generally pretty poor as the unit rattles and the US socket is not solidly mounted – it rotates a little as you insert a cord. Other than that though, it works fine and powers my 60W soldering station with no problem (it does get a little hot).

4.0 out of 5 stars Some small blemishes, generally fine, 29 May 2014

I only bought this as a "booster" to get my order up to the required £10 for add-on items, but I am glad I did. It is a standard-length 30cm ruler but with many extra additions. The first 5cm are marked in 0.5mm divisions, which is especially useful, as well as the many tables and conversions there are on the back. It is also good because can be used to measure depth; the scale starts right from one end of the ruler. There are some patches where the text / writing is not printed properly but it is usable and works well.

Bog standard pen refills which I use for my ballpoint pen. These are good value and last a long time (I use them for school).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for a proven product, 29 May 2014

This review is from: WD- 40 600ml Aerosol (Automotive)
There isn't a great deal to say here. WD40 is an excellent product that I use regularly, which can be used for many purposes. One use I found was cleaning the dirt off bike chains! It is generally used as a mild solvent and/or for lubricating pretty much anything that moves. This can is very big, although manageable, and will last me a while!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well as long as you use it properly, 29 May 2014

This spray paint is specially formulated to adhere well to plastic, however it does require you to read the instructions properly. What other reviewers seem not to have realised is that the item you are painting must be as clean as possible. The can states that with new plastics you should wipe them down with paint thinner, although I have not tested this. I sanded down the plastic box I painted using progressively finer grits of superfine sandpaper (down to 8000 grit), which helped a lot. However, this may not be possible for all items you will spray. You also need to wash the item with mild detergent and, after doing this, avoid getting too many fingerprints on it before painting.

Other than that, there is not a great deal to say about this product. It works well, giving a shiny and even black gloss finish, and is very good value for money here compared to other places I looked. It dries to the touch in 30 minutes and dries hard within 48 hours, and the can says you should paint extra layers within an hour or after 48 hours. If needed, it can be removed fairly easily by spraying the item with Fairy Power Spray, letting it soak for several hours and scrubbing using a brush of some sort (you may need to do this more than once).

AnySharp Global World's Best Knife Sharpener (Classic)
AnySharp Global World's Best Knife Sharpener (Classic)

5.0 out of 5 stars Far superior to others, 29 May 2014

I bought this as a present for a relative and I have to say, it works wonders. The sharpener attaches to a surface using a built-in suction cup on the bottom of it. You pull down the plastic lever, which also blocks the sharpener in its "off" position, to fix the suction cup and then you are ready to go. The device is fairly small – it mostly gets left on the kitchen work surface – and requires the user to draw the knife through it. Do this several times, in the direction indicated by the arrow on the device, and your knife will be much sharper. You can see the metal shavings on the device after using it; if you overuse it you will wear down your knife but this is how knife sharpeners work.

It works fairly well on large serrated knives such as bread knives, but it is not as good as with others because it only sharpens one side of the serrations. Knives with finely-pitched serrations do not work at all.

Syma 2nd Edition S107 S107G New Version Indoor Helicopter (Red)

5.0 out of 5 stars Stable & very durable helicopter!, 1 Jan 2014
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
My brother and I both got one of these for Christmas. One initial problem was that both helicopters were channel 'A' - meaning they supposedly couldn't be used in the same room. However, after some playing around, I discovered that if both helicopters are connected in separate rooms (on separate channels) and then brought into the same room, they're fine; the helicopters work on channel 'A' and 'B' despite having 'Ch. A' or 'Ch. B' printed on them.
To connect the helicopter to the remote:
- Turn on the helicopter. The internal light should blink.
- Put the throttle (left stick) on the remote to midway up (not the bottom) and turn on the remote. The light on the remote should blink.
- Gradually bring the throttle down on the remote until the light inside the helicopter goes solid. The helicopter is now connected.
- The throttle should then be put to its lowest position and the helicopter will now respond to the controller.

The controller takes 6 AA batteries, but they have lasted for at least a week of intense use without lowering much in charge (the batteries I used have power meters on them). The helicopter has a 150mAh Li-Poly internal battery which can be replaced with a larger capacity one for those more adventurous users! The helicopter flies for 5-8 minutes when fully charged and takes 20-40 minutes to charge.
TIP: The way that these chargers work means that the helicopter should be about 80% charged after half of the charging time - the other half is getting up to 100%. In other words, you do not have to wait the full 40 minutes for it to last a decent amount of time.
Also, as several other reviewers said, you should leave the battery a few minutes after use before charging to prolong its life. I measured its temperature using a multimeter with a temperature probe at about 25 deg C after a flight, but the internal temperature is likely to be even higher. Prolonged high temperatures degrade the battery chemistry and therefore should be avoided.

The controller should have two channels: 'A' and 'B'. If it has a 'C' channel, it is a fake. Likewise, check that the box has a 'Syma' logo on and that the 'S107G' is shiny - if both of these are not the case, the helicopter is a fake. There are many fakes in circulation, most of which fly OK, but if you do receive a fake, report the seller and demand your money back! Fakes are most commonly found when buying from Chinese sellers on eBay, but there are reports of fakes on Amazon (from 3rd party sellers) so just watch out. The newer controllers do not have a spring on the throttle lever, so you can set the helicopter to hover and take your thumb off the lever.

Included in the box is:
- the helicopter;
- the controller;
- a generously long USB charging cable (lights up red when disconnected or charge complete, light goes off when charging);
- a spare tail rotor;
- an instruction manual

The helicopter itself is extremely durable. It has crashed many times, and has always survived - it even took a dunk in the washing up water! I turned it off immediately, sprayed most of the water off with compressed air (you may not have any compressed air - search 'air duster' on Amazon, it's very cheap and really useful for this sort of stuff) and put it in the airing cupboard (warm) overnight. It worked in the morning. Note: I did not turn it on until the morning when it had had time to dry, doing so could have damaged the circuitry. The durability is obviously by design: the rotors are hinged so they will not break if they hit something and the helicopter cuts out if it detects too high a resistance stopping the rotors turning (object caught in the rotors). This helps to prevent damage in the very likely event of a crash. Spare parts are widely available: the rotors and balance bar can be bought in a set from Amazon as an add-on, and most other parts can be bought on eBay, including replacement transmitters.

Compared to other indoor helicopters such as the PicoZ, the Syma is very stable and easy to fly. When it has just finished charging, the throttle packs quite a punch, so be careful to take off gently. The balance bar and conversely spinning rotors lead to a high gyroscopic effect which keeps the helicopter very stable; try poking it while hovering and it will right its position. The rear rotor tilts the helicopter forwards or backwards so it will fly in the corresponding direction. With a bit of practice you will be able to land on most surfaces, including carpet (careful not to get the helicopter caught in the fibres of the carpet!). If the helicopter falls on its side, putting the throttle quickly to max will usually right the helicopter, which due to the large span of its landing gear, is very stable in landing.

Overall this is an excellent helicopter at a very reasonable price. It can't be used outside due to it working on IR (infra red), but it would blow around anyway (although you can use it at night once the sun has gone in if there is little wind). The controller is good quality and can be used to charge the helicopter (although the USB cable is better). Great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very funny, but conspicuous, 8 Dec 2013
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fart Spray Small (50ml) (Toy)
This fart spray is hilarious. Personally I am one of the few people who (weirdly) cannot smell it, but the rest of my family gag at the smell. The only downside is that being an aerosol it's pretty obvious, so you can't stealthily drop it and wait for the reactions - people know it was you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but pump action needs to be improved, 4 Oct 2013

The problem I noticed with this is that when you press the nozzle down to spray out alcohol, it often requires pulling back up before it can be used again. Other than that, it dispenses just the right amount of alcohol - I've been using it intensively for days now and it has barely gone down (judging by my shaking).

5.0 out of 5 stars Good case, a few blemishes, 28 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a very good case. It fits perfectly, providing access to all the connectors, plus the speaker, camera and wrist strap. It feels nice and is a consistent red color. My only gripe is that there is a small blemish on the back that seems to be irremovable, but it is very small. Overall, I would highly recommend this product - I looked quite hard for a case for my new iPod Touch, and am pleased with my purchase.
