5.0 out of 5 stars A good heart-warming read., 6 Feb. 2014

As Tish Thorpe’s dream of acting in a successful movie comes true, she discovers that the on-screen fiction of ‘Double Lives’ unnervingly becomes reality.
Following the sudden death of her father, the secrets of his previous life are revealed. Determined to find out the truth behind the lies, Tish embarks on an emotional journey with plenty of surprises along the way. Yet the more she discovers about the past, the harder she finds it to make decisions about her own future.

Just like Helen Crossfield’s previous novel, an Italian Affair, her beautifully descriptive narrative creates a wonderful backdrop for her characters. It’s hard not to be willing everything to turn out for the best for the very likeable Tish, even when she potentially jeopardises her own chance of long-lasting love.

I've rated it 5***** because I loved it and would recommend it for anyone who enjoys a good heart-warming read.

Love lost, love found, mystery and intrigue - all set against a backdrop of breathtaking Naples. With charismatic and colourful characters, The Italian Affair is a fabulous read. As you follow the protagonist Issy through her emotional journey, the plot takes intriguing twists and turns. Anyone who has carried the baggage of past loves into their present relationships will be able to relate to her passions and fears. Her story is told with warmth and humour which makes this such an enjoyable book and one which I can completely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars "a must read for anyone who wants to learn how to enjoy their life.", 22 Jan. 2013

An amazing book about real women who have met their life challenges head on and come out the other side stronger than before. There is none of the usual 'overcoming through positive thinking'. This is about embracing difficulties, going through them and evolving as a person. You can't help read this book and not be humbled by the strength of these women. Their journeys of courage will leave you inspired.
This is a must read for anyone who wants to learn how to enjoy their life.

This review is from: Life Knocks (Kindle Edition)
If you've ever messed up in your life then you will love reading Life Knocks. Unless you have also thrown away the opportunity to live happily ever after on a tropical island with the love of your life through a combination of over-excess and stupidity, you are guaranteed to feel better about yourself. A wonderfully quirky and gritty read, it is packed with fabulously funny lines which will stay in your mind and reappear at the most inappropriate moments.
Loved it!

An easy to follow story based around characters at an addiction rehab and a neighbouring animal shelter. It is nicely told and there are some lovely lines in it that anyone who has been through addiction and is on the road to recovery will relate to. "Just the air I breathe keeps me going and I am living life on a different set of terms." is one such phrase. It's good to read a book that whilst being realistic about the nature of addiction, it isn't focused on all the negatives. Refreshing to read about those who succeed in recovery and live a 'normal' life.
