5.0 out of 5 stars Top stuff from Ben Elton, 15 Nov 2001
This review is from: Dead Famous (Hardcover)
The book starts off reasonably well but doesn't really gather momentum until half way through, when the victim is revealed.
I found Dead Famous gripping and very cleverly written. The murder is plausible - with 30 cameras in the house I was a bit skeptical about how anyone could pull it off! The murderer's identity comes as a bit of a surprise and the execution of the crime - though possibly too "perfect" for the real world - well thought out.
Unlike Elton's previous books this one actually has some 'chilling' moments and i found it less downright funny than 'Popcorn' or 'Inconceivable' for instance.
Full marks to Ben for one of his best books so far... with lots of potential to make it to the big screen too!
Definitely not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elton + Tarantino = Excellent, 31 Aug 2001
This review is from: Popcorn (Paperback)
This is an excellent book by Ben Elton - on two conditions. First, you must be familiar with Elton and his sense of humour and like it. Secondly you must be familiar with Quentin Tarantino's films and his style (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Natural Born Killers...)
If you don't like any of the above, then you probably won't appreciate this book as much as it deserves!
