4.0 out of 5 stars Good value steam mop, 17 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not as powerful as a more expensive cleaner we had that broke but for the price it does a good job albeit a little slower. Only real niggle is the power cable comes out of the bottom of the machine which is annoying as you expect it to come out of the top like a vacuum cleaner where you hold it in one hand and the cleaner in the other but to do this with this device you have to bend down and pick the lead up and hold it unnaturally. Perhaps I'm being weird?!

Seems quite cheap but as long as it lasts a year or two I'll be happy. Have had good experience with morphy richards devices recently and for the price they are usually good value.

3.0 out of 5 stars Depends on your definition of pear flavour, 17 July 2014
This review is from: Xante Pear Liqueur 50cl (Grocery)
Bought this on the back of lots of positive reviews on various websites but I have to say I find the pear flavour a bit artificial (think pear drop/kopperberg cider). Its been at the back of cupboard after trying various cocktails and only recenty tried again after using it sparingly to bolster the natural pear juiice i was using in a cocktail where it got lost in the gin (50ml Gin, 50ml Champagne, 25 ml pear juice, 10 ml Xante - shake the gin, pear, xante together with tons of ice, double strain into champagne glass and top with fizzy - based on a recipe from Bloom Gin).

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant account of a religion and how it lead to a modern day murder, 30 Sep 2008
Brilliant account of a religion and how it lead to the murder of innocents by people carrying out what they thought was God's work. Sound familiar?

This is a stunning book. It so incredibly well researched and written that despite the amount of details you don't ever lose your way. It describes everything so richly that you almost feel part of events. A warning though - it makes the retelling of the actual murders all the more harrowing and almost unreadable at one point.

I'd like to think it's for everyone but I think you need more than a casual interest in religion (more so atheists! Anyone whose read God Delusion or Sam Harris MUST read this) to really enjoy a pretty full account of Mormon history but it really rewards. It made me shake my head in disbelief several times and reflect on how a religion (?!) like Mormonism or it's offshoots can gain such a foothold in modern times.

I'd also recommend it for fans of Brian Masters crime writing as it feels similarly well written and the subject matter does cross over.

5.0 out of 5 stars A complete listing for golfers, 10 Aug 2007
An improvement on the last edition in every way. A better layout with information from the local Pro included. Together with the website this is the best way to keep in touch with the courses that truly make up the top 100 by the people that play them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome addition to your Mac / PC / Music workstation, 12 April 2007
These are a serious piece of kit from a genuine hi-fi company. The sub is plenty powerful and the satellite speakers are built like tanks (and weight about the same as a bag of sugar each - no lightweight palstics here). Half decent cables come with the speakers and you can have it up and running in minutes. Itunes never sounded so good.

It's pointless trying to describe the sound of these - just get em! The also work a treat as tiny monitors connected to my Yamaha Motif and sound superb.

For this price they are an absolute steal. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Fill your boots!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Some useful info but a lot of snippets, 9 Dec 2006
I was looking for a modern take on portrait photography and from the cover this looks half way there (haven't been let down by some of the amherst media books which may have been useful in the 80's when most of the photos were taken - be warned!). The 300 odd pages cover too much and so it ends up being a jack of all trades and master of none. Also any book that has the subtitle 'take memorable shots every time' shold be choc full of them and to I think the majority are bland and uninspiring. As I said there is some useful stuff but it's mainly snippets and for anything of real interest you would be better off with a specialist book.

I don't think I can even recommend it to beginners as it covers so much stuff and it doesn't always flow neatly so you'll end up confused.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth getting for one glorious track., 2 Feb 2000
This review is from: Bridges (Audio CD)
Dianne Reeves later albums are far mellower than her earlier stuff. By and large this is fine but when you have album after album of 'standards' and jazzed up remakes it begins to wear a little thin (will their ever be another Sky Islands?).
Track 4 is the standout for me. The voice on this is simply incredible and conveys such emotion that you simply feel numb by the time it's finished. One day I have to hear this live.
I buy all her albums anyway so I'm biased. Theres better out there but track 4 (and 2, also track one is an interesting take on a Peter Gabriel classic from So) is worth the entrance fee alone.
