This is a GREAT album from the Minds, retro nostalgia, with a huge modern, contemporary sound, and strong songwriting from Kerr and Burchill, with help from Iain Cook of CHVRCHES on "Honest Town" and "Blood Diamond". The only track I personally am not so keen on is "Human" but all the songs are well written, arranged and produced for a band 35 years in.

The Deluxe edition CD is excellent too, with an updated version of "Swimming Towards the Sun". And "Bitter Sweet" and "Liaison" being as good as some tracks on the "Big Music" album. To listen to music with depth and substance, and to be musically educated, you really need to buy this album. This just confirms in my opinion, why they really are, one of the world's truly great bands.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Return of the Pioneer, 20 Oct. 2013
The godfather of electronica has just released a great new album his first proper album in 7 years. It sounds not as industrial to me, as his last few albums, but sounding more like the classics "Pleasure Principle" or "Telekon". His voice is also in fine form, the production is spot on, and the songs are some of his strongest in years. Welcome back Gary, you lovely modest man. You are an electronic genius, who has influenced loads of artists, with "Cars" being one of the most covered songs ever. If you are a Numan fan do yourself a favour and go buy this album, it will enrich your life.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cruel, 5 Sept. 2013
George Orwell is a brilliant writer, but I didn't read any further after him recalling his childhood, with three of his friends, finding four baby chicks out in the forest, after playing with them for an hour, decided what to do with them, and decided to stamp on them! I could not believe when I read this, needless to say I put the book straight down. I only hope it was a fictional account of his childhood. And if it is, it is still unnecessary to be so cruel. Although still growing up, most children would surely not be so heartless to do this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Kings of Metal, 1 May 2012

This Iron Maiden DVD is the band firing on all cylinders, the band truly at their peak. Since Bruce returned in 1999 they seem to be bigger and better than ever before, you know when your in one of the world's biggest bands, when the band have their own plane, flown by the singer, to fill the world's biggest stadiums. And this concert in Chile is one of them.

They seem to play the songs faster as they get older, but this is okay, because the musicianship is outstanding as always. Especially the lethal combination of Nicko McBrain and Steve Harris, and Bruce Dickinson's vocal's are as commanding, powerful and operatic as they have ever been. The documentary DVD is also great as you get an insight into the work that goes into putting on a Maiden show, and see them playing places, no band could ever dream or hope to play. In an uncertain world, there is something reassuring and genuine about Maiden, long may they rule!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hidden Depth and Colour, 17 Aug. 2010

This review is from: The Final Frontier (Audio CD)
This new Iron Maiden album impresses more than ever, after a few listens, with each play revealing hidden depth and colour. The production seems tighter than a " Matter of Life and Death " and is not as lyrically depressing. Since Bruce Dickinson, came back into the lineup in 1999, this legendary band seem bigger and better than ever. With each album, never failing to deliver.

With " The Final Frontier " the band excel again, " Eldorado " is probably the weakest song, but is still better than 90% of what's around today. All the tracks are quality, musically and lyrically,as Maiden prove they are the most consistent metal band there is. If any band deserves respect, for staying true to themselves it's Maiden. Their loyal and devoted following will treasure " The Final Frontier " even if only for it's sincerity, and I am one of them.
