5.0 out of 5 stars Manipulation, murder & nazi experiments, 21 Aug 2014

The book starts with someone camping in the middle of nowhere, they’re studying some radio waves which they’ve been tracking for a while and finally realise that they’re brainwaves.

Annie Radford shoots dead her young brother shocking everyone by telling them that a voice in her head told her to do it.

She is committed to a mental institution where everything isn’t as it seems.

Everyone is scared of Nurse Winter but why?

A lot of the characters were manipulated over years but by who and why?

This was a brilliant read as I didn’t want to put it down as it had me gripped. It’s a cross between Frankenstein, Nazi experiments & sprinkled with some love and added murder.

A series of bombs go off in London, they were placed at expensive Jewellers. Ambulances arrive but not with paramedics but with men who come for the jewels.

The police, terrorism squad and ISP (a private security firm) are on the case.

More explosions, murder, drugs and travel around the world follow in the story.

Great book, loved the interaction with the characters.

Karl wakes up hungover again, turns on the police scanner and hears an army message stating that there has been a breach of security at the base, the person is a woman wearing a white wedding dress.

Karl wants to know how she got on the base and why. The story unfolds but it took me ages to actually get into the plot.

Suffice to say that Karl’s son disappeared 6 months previously and he wants to know what became of him.

The story has some horror along with some humour through out and some strange people thrown into the mix.

Emily, Doug and Paige Baker travel to Montanna for a camping trip. The family are having arguments due to Emily suffering from trauma from her past.

Paige runs off having been told off by her dad, her dog Kobee runs off and she becomes lost.

Her parents report her missing and a full scale search and rescue is set in motion.

The FBI no there are things the parents are telling them which makes them suspicious of what and why.

Whilst this is happening there is a death row lawyer (Cohen) who is working hard to get his client Hood to have his execution to stopped. Why?

Suffice to say that the story is gripping making you wonder is there more to the story, what actually did happen, what’s happened in the past, who’s telling the truth and who isn’t.

Great book, kept me reading as wanted to find out what actually happened.

Jack Shepherd had a high flying job but gave it up and took a job as a lecturer in Asia.

Out of the blue he gets a fone call from a blast from the past but he was supposed to be dead.

He has no idea why he’s come back and contacted him but his interest is piqued to find out why. He keeps getting warned off but will he back off? Of course not which leads him into the mix with people been killed, warning and financial scams.

Great story with great characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW brilliant read, 3 Aug 2014

Emma and Dave have had a bad year with suffering a miscarriage and building their dream home in the area of where Emma grew up.

Emma is an author and is hoping that living here will help her get writing again.

But no sooner have they moved in then strange things start to happen which takes over her life.

She starts writing but its as if she's been possessed by someone from the past making her tell a story.

Wow this books is brilliantly written, I couldn't put it down as it was that gripping.

The story flits back and forth between Jennet's life from the past of how her life was forced to become due to people of power at the time to what is happening with Emma making her do things that aren't her doing.

After more digging and persuading his boss to give him more time to investigate and he concludes that it was murder but how and why?

Great short story.

3.0 out of 5 stars I gave up half way through, 3 Aug 2014

A robbery is set up and one woman sits waiting in the van whilst her husband and brother in law enter the building. They’ve secured the code for the vault from a round about way off the Personal Assistant who works for the jewellery restorers.

Things start to go wrong and another intruder turns up, someone gets locked in the vault, a shot is fired etc.

The book then jumps to Owen Tanner who is an ex police inspector who comes home to find his wife Karin is missing and his house has been turned over.

He gets a strange fone call from Karin, this makes him decide to travel to Sweden to look for her.

After reading just over half way through the book I had to give up as I found it far too hard to keep with it as the story was fine at the beginning but once he got on the ferry it became far too much descriptive of what was going on and repetition of explanations which made me give up which is sad to say as I usually like this author.

Palmer is a teenager with a secret, he pretends to be a sexy woman on the internet fooling lonely men, pretending he likes them and gets money off them before he moves on the next victim.

Christian and Malcolm were good mates sharing beers and some smoke.

They saw Christian’s neighbour (Adam) getting a big box delivered, what was it? It was a life size doll which he called Bethany.

The lads got into Adam’s house and caught him just about in the act, the pics went viral.

When Adam found out it lead to Christian been found drowned in the pond.

More murders follow but who is committing them, does the right person get the blame?

I think that there is scope for a follow on to this as the ending left you wanting more.

Evergreen is a insular traveller site.

One morning a young girls is found to be missing her mother finds her dead just outside the caravan.

Everyone is shocked but what’s more shocking is that more children are found dead as time goes by.

The adults come together and decide it’s one of their own, they burn his caravan with him alive inside but for nothing as the killings continue.

They then decide it’s another family from another traveller site so they get revenge but this is for nothing as the murderer is someone they knew many years ago and is getting their own back.

In the end there is only one traveller left along with the killer.

Gruesome story and well written from this great author.

Loved all these novellas in this book.
