This review is from: Hybrid Theory (Audio CD)
so much shouting and crunchy/scratchy/feedback sounds wrapped up in a very shiny and sellable plastic coating make up this bloodless effort by a group from that cloned pigeonhole of music: nu-metal. sadly, emotions range further than from 'i have a pain in my stomach' to 'i have a pain in my intestine', so the vocals lft me cold. lack of emotional purpose, irritatingly glossy and sadly repetitive; with lyrics such as "I tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end it doesn't really matter", this effort gave me a pain in the stomach. doesn't even rock properly because theres a great big chunk of sugar on top of it, dressed up as credibility but as sweet as a little pop idol. if u just want to jump around to loud noises, this would work. otherwise, just don't buy this pointless rubbish. please.

This review is from: SILVER SIDE UP (Audio CD)
silver side up melds actual rock music with thinness and forced drama. armed with dramatic silences that cleverly aren't actually the end of the song and lyrics that rhyme, this watered down mix of formulaic nothing-rock and half-hearted riffshadows is perfect for those who like comparing different chords, and don't like silly emotional performances getting in the way. dire. for music with content, nirvana and smashing pumpkins also play guitars, but the songs explode rather than plod. radiohead are not at all similar to nickleback, but deserve a mention for being great.
