A funny book., 17 Mar. 2002
Initially I found this book hard to get into, so I took it away on holiday with me, and read it twice.
It documents the purchase, by two sisters, of a run down abode in Italy. The local customs, including mealtimes, drinking habits and the local people caused me to laugh hysterically out loud loads of times. This caused much rolling of eyes amongst my family, who just couldn't understand what was so hilarious.
The chapter covering the first feast was just so funny that it caused me to laugh for days.
The sisters eventually became part of the village life, but of course life wasn't all plain sailing. The different quirks of the people and the disasters encountered along the way made me anxious to read on, but sad that the book would soon be finished.
I went on to buy this book for 2 other people, and they have both enjoyed it hugely.
