5.0 out of 5 stars The middle part of a classic comedy drama trilogy., 20 April 2000
The second part of a trilogy starring James Bolam & Barbara Flynn, a classic of black humour which could only be made in Britain!
Strange goings on with the police, the wrong tapes which find thier way in to the wrong hands and cause all sorts of underhand dealings with various dodgy council members.
Lots of great Jazz and the kind of script which you will be quoting well after you watch.
For the best, watch The Beiderbecke Affair first. then The Beiderbeck Tapes, and finally the Beiderbecke Connection.
The only dissapointment is that Alan Plater didn't write even more!

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb comedy drama in the best British tradition! Great., 2 April 2000
James Bolam at his best as the underdog teacher, finding romance, of sorts with another teacher, a mystery, some spy games, and a couple of "local heros" big Al and little Norm. As good as telly drama gets. Worth watching all three series, the Afair, the Tapes, and the Connection.
