Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire
Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire
by Chalmers Johnson
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Title, 5 Nov. 2011
What an informative piece. As a non American I learned a lot about the history of Southeast Asia. I also added to my knowledge of what took place there. It is truly heartbreaking to learn of the dark side of the Empire yet again in another part of the world. Sadly such is the behavior of all Empire thru out history: although it ought not be that. The Human condition is never different any where on the globe.

American citizens need to read it to appreciate why the other citizens of the world look at them as the "Ugly American": not because of any personal hatreds, but because of what the Empire ends up doing to others. The industrial military complex has ruined it for the ordinary American people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Failing Coroprate reading, 5 Nov. 2011
Very simply an outstanding book that outlines the difference between companies that make it and those that out to be avoided like the plague. It should be made an International Law to black list all such failing companies because of the great damage they inflict on employees that suffer because of their failing leadership.

It should be part of the UN Human Rights Charter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard work is a key factor, 5 Nov. 2011
I am delighted to have read this book because it is a reaffirmation of many beliefs I had always believed in. Hard work is one of them. The over inflated emphasis on IQs is deconstructed beautifully.

Success,as highlighted,is a conglomeration of many factors focal to which is a personal clear goal to fulfill and specific well timed helping circumstances that are capitalized on. This is a book that should be read by all parents and taught to all students before stepping out on the world stage at the college level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tic, tic, tic.... watch and believe., 3 Jan. 2010
Having lived, studied and spent over 5 years in Egypt from 1975 to 1981 I can feel, touch, smell, hold in my vision everything John R. Bradley described in this book. History WILL repeat itself and mankind will not have learned a thing. So sad. A must reading for anyone with a consciousness for humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reality Check, 14 Feb. 2009
Unless one is exposed to truth( whether reading books such as this one, being there on the ground to expose first hand the realities of the tragedy, or is able to access untainted mass media)the true story of Iraq will never be known. What has happened is exactly what GW Bush and his adminisdtration have promised: "bomb Iraq into the stone age". Great spread of democracy!!! I have seen thru the eyes of the author what has happened to the innocent people of Iraq. It is worth every penny to acquire and read. Thank you.
