Use your worktop, 1 Sep 2011
In my eyes a completely useless product. The purpose of it is to stop your worktop getting messy and negate the need to use loads of flour to stop the dough sticking; both of which it fails at!
1. As it is intended to be placed on a surface which the majority of the time is going to be relatively smooth you would have thought there would have been some none slip quality to the base of mat. This isn't the case and as soon as you start to work your dough / pastry the mat and contents will slip effortlessly over your workspace sending items, flour etc everywhere whilst making it impossible to work.
2. Non stick - don't roll out and leave your pizza dough to rise on it for more than a few minutes as IT WILL STICK.
3. Using your worktop with a good sprinkle of flour and spending a few minutes to clean up afterwards is much easier and less stressful.
NB. If you do still fancy one then find how awful it is it makes a very good dinner mat for your pets!
